Anyone Know? Please Help Me =]

hey guys I have a question, I'm currently a high school senior and What do you guys think about going to the Seton Hall Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations? It had great connections with the U.N and just seems so focused on International Affairs and has exactly what I had in mind. I'm fluent in Arabic and English and I've already had Internships at the U.N Ect.. My ultimate goal is to definitely to get a PhD in IR (and possibly Peace Conflict Resolution) and then hopefully join the U.N , any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not getting any financial Aid so don't tell me Georgetown and George Washington ect.. Unless maybe its a private college that gives alot of instituational based grants. I'm just so patient about what I want to do, I've took 9 classes that have to do with social sciences at my school (including Independant Study), my teachers (especially for AP Gov ect..) are in mad love with me and I gotta say my Essay is beastly :D. My gpa is so so but honestly who needs Math and Science right? Thanks for the help and I really really appreciate it.

And i go to a top 5 private school in NJ. if a mod feels the need the move this, please do.

nothing guys? =[

Hey. It is nice to see someone as young as you with such a clear idea of what you want to do and with such ambition. I do have a couple comments you might be interested in:

If you are limited to NJ, yes, SHU Whitehead is a very good school. I would, however, suggest you go to the best school (1) you can get into and (2) you can afford. So if you can commute to NYU or Colombia, then consider it. I know it seems impossible but there is a big chance you will change your mind during you undergrad, in which case you want the school that gives you the most. And going to a good IR undergrad school doesn’t help get into a good IR grad program. Going to one of the best school in the country (ie Columbia or NYU) does. Not to mention the kind of jobs you can get from in the IR field with only a bachelors will not change much from school to school. (I went to a crappy state school in Texas and got a job with Ernst & Young as an International Trade Consultant)

Do not limit yourself to only the U.N. It is a great organization but there are plenty great places to work.

If you can afford it, study abroad. Because it is awesome.

If you want to do a PhD, your undergrad GPA, GRE, and degree are more important than your school. The BEST thing is LOTS and LOTS of Math, Stats, and Cal. classes. I know International Trade sounds a lot more exciting than Real Game Analysis, but trust me adcoms care ALOT more about math. The best thing, I believe, is to major in Econ and get a minor in Math (or possible double major).

Good luck!

Also point 5. you don't need a PhD to work for the UN. You just need a masters and to pass their placement test. Only get a PhD if you want to do research.

thank you so much for the help, getting a PhD is not for the U.N, i would like to get a PhD. I'm not limited to NJ, its just honestly i don't want to ask my parents to pay 40-50k out of their pocket for georgetown ect..

any school suggestions would be great.

Can you get into Princeton, Syracuse, NYU, or Columbia? If not, I would go to Seton Hall.

NYU is possible but Columbia and Princeton, probably not gonna even try lol. But again the problem NYU = 50k without even apartment payments right? that's just way tooo much. And it sucks that none of the state schools like maryland/penn state/deleware/ucomm offer the major.

my real qestions here is if you had to choose between gettysburg/skidmore/dickinson ect.. and the whitehead school of diplomacy and seton hall..which one would you go with?
