Anyone know the acceptance rate of non auto admits? Like how many generally apply that are not auto admit and then how many of those applicants are accepted.

According to my counselor and other sources, about 80-85% of admits are auto-admits…

@DFWKid: Since TAMU has 2 auto-admit pathways, academic and top 10% Texas graduate, the percentage of auto admissions is probably fairly high. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were as SATDestroyer reports. Seems realistic.

Keep in mind, A&M will admit way more than actually enroll. My S is admitted to both UT and A&M and he’s no where near ready to choose one or the other.

Best wishes to you!

Starting this year there’s a new law that UT has to accept the top 8% auto-admits until they fill 75% of the admission spots. The other 25% will go to non-auto and out-of-state admits.

Does that mean if you are top 8% but didn’t get one of the initial 75% slots you can’t compete for one of the remaining 25% slots? Or is everyone left holistically reviewed for the remaining slots? In other words are 25% reserved for those OOS and non top 8%?

Yes ^. I mean how many non auto admits Texas residents applied and how many have gotten in of them in the past years

This link doesn’t say how many non auto-admits applied but it does say how many were accepted. So it’s a start.
