anyone live in Unit 2

Hi, guys! I just get an offer for Unit 2 triple. and i am a bit worry and i have some questions....

1)what is unit 2 like?
2)are the corner triples bigger than the hallway triples? like having three closets
3)are the corner triples for mini-suites only?
4)if not, what is the chance of getting a corner triple?
5)any good advise for new comer, such as what to/ not to bring.

Thank you sososo much!!

I’m living in Foothill (I have a friend living in Unit 2 though). However, during CalSO, I lived in Unit 3 in a triple (I think it’ll be about the same as a triple in Unit 2).

So basically, in my room, there were like 3 closets to the right of the door, a desk by the window, another desk (that’s meant to be shared by 2 people) under a bed, and a bunk bed on the other side of the room.

And, as a tip, if you bring an ethernet cable for Internet, bring a long ethernet cable (I heard from CC here that like 20 ft is good). The ethernet in the room I stayed in was all the way across the room, next to the closets. (When I tried out the Internet there, I had to pretty much sit next to the closets since my ethernet cable was too short)

I lived in a Unit 1 triple, virtually the same thing.

I noticed that the corner triples were a tiny bit bigger, but they didn’t have more closets. It wasn’t anything too significant. In the hallway triples, the door would be in the middle, and there was one closet on either side of the door. For the corner triples, the door would be on the left or right side of the room and it would have 2 closets in a row next to it.

Mini-suites are in a different building altogether, so no, corner triples are not solely for mini-suites.

I don’t know the chances of getting a corner triple; it’s less than the chances of getting a hallway triple though, but it really doesn’t matter.

Some good things to bring are an ethernet cable; get one longer than 5 ft, but less than 20ft, you don’t need that much length (trust me, I had a 25 ft ethernet cable). A desk lamp, surge protector, bedding, laundry items, clothes, school supplies, hygiene items, umbrella, and any other personal items you want. I would say that you can bring pretty much as much as you want (within reason; for example, don’t bring a couch), and it will fit in the room (they give you a lot of storage space, you might have to sacrifice tidiness though), but I would really advise to bring as few things as possible. Think about if you’ll really need something or use it more than just once, because while it will most likely fit, it makes moving out at the end of the year a pain.

One last thing: while you seem hesitant about living in a triple, let me just tell you that I loved living in a triple. I got along really well with both of my roommates (think of it like this, living in a triple versus living in a double gives you a higher chance of having a good roommate), and I thought that the triples felt a lot more cozy than the doubles. Worried about not having enough space? I covered that above. Worried about the room being too loud? You don’t need to stay in your room to study; there’s plenty of other places, such as the lounge, the laundry room (yes, people studied in there), the ASC (the area underneath the Unit 2 courtyard), or the library. I would just suggest, once you find out who your roommates are, it would be nice to decide amongst yourselves ahead of time who gets which desk or which bed, etc.; 'tis just common courtesy, and sets a good tone for the rest of the year.
