anyone lived or been to channing/bowditch apts?

How are they?

Yeah I went in there once. It’s reaaaaally nice and the apartment I went into was big and the inside hallways feel dorm-ish.

They’re really nice. Basically like the dorms, only much cleaner, and the residents I’ve met there all seem quite decent.

They’re pretty nice, but expensive. When do people apply for them? Competitive?

(off topic) ^wow, you’re like 88888888’s new little cousin haha

^hahahahaha

lol…what the eff. very original name. = =

7 post… too interesting.

Looks like we have a younger, cooler, sexier version of 88888888 now.

88888888> I’m at Channing/Bowditch. It’s pretty nice. Separate rooms for toilet and shower with an open area between them with 2 sinks separating them (a big step up from the all-in-one bathrooms at Wada). It’s pretty bright and airy (also a big step up from Wada). The rent is pretty steep (almost $1000/mo to share a double). Much more of an apartment feel inside the rooms… Catalysis is right about the hallways - very dorm-like.

My son has a single there, about $50/mo more than a double. Like living in a four-bedroom apt., really spacious, incredible storage space, fully enclosed (i.e. private) toilet, full kitchen. In short, even if you include a mini meal plan, it comes out cheaper than living in the dorms. Includes internet, cable, furnished, utilities. Nice study room, lounge, laundry, etc. Pretty new and the phone reception is superb.

The rent is like $1000 a month. That can’t possible be cheaper than the dorms when you factor in the meal plan.

Not to mention it’s a yearlong lease so if you’re not planning on being in berkeley in the summer, it’s a bit of a waste.

I’m living at ChaBo right now. Yes, the place is really nice and pretty close, but it eats up your money… unless you are considering the dorms. In that case, this place is better in terms of cost.

You don’t need to be here in the summer in order to live at ChaBo. Some residents have leases going from August to May.

Legend, you are wrong. Meal plan for ChaBo is $600/semester. At 10 months, $1,200 added, total for 10 months is $11,200 – for so much more than what you get in the dorm.

Consider this: Unit 1 Double mini-suite: $15,495 (inclusive of basic meal plan)
Unit 1 Double: $13,900
Foothill Double: $16,995.

Math is definitely NOT my strong point, but even I can look at the bills I’m paying for housing and see that I’m paying less.
