Oh come on, am I the only person on this entire board looking into Chapman?

My d applied to Chapman EA-was accepted and received a nice scholarship offer. We will be going to check it out in the next month.
Did you apply or are you just considering it? I would be glad to give you a report of our visit when we go.

My son is looking into their film school. It seems to have a good reputation.

What was the scholarship offered?

She was offered the President's scholarship which seems to be about 2/3 tuition. We were actually quite surprised and obviously pleased to get the letter!

I plan on applying EA this year for the film school. Hopefully I'll be able to get in with my stats. I'm trying to convince my parents that we should go out there during Spring Break and take a look at not only Chapman, but also Occidental and USC (although I don't have a chance in the world at USC. I have a better chance at Northwestern!)

rbinaz, it'd be great if you could tell me how the visit goes. Thanks!

The film school says that stats aren't all that is important. They require a portfolio. They said this year they would have about 900 to 1000 applicants. They accept around 100. They don't have EA for film school but the adcom said to apply by the EA date because it is a longer process for film. They inform you in Jan. if you are a finalist for the film school. You send the work from your portfolio if you are a finalist and then interview with the film dept. Then you receive your answer in April. I heard from others that they want to know you are serious about them that visits are important.

Yeah, I'm currently working on my portfolio. So far all I've got are some things I've done for my school (student commercials, multimedia stuff) and one serious thing: a short film that I helped edit was sent to the Carolina Film Festival. And right now I'm working on a short film for a local film festival. I also plan on going to Columbia College Chicago's summer program where I'll study basic screenwriting, intro to 16mm and photography.

Meh, hopefully I'll have everything together by November.

DD is interested in looking at Chapman. Any info would be helpful to us. She has no specific major in mind. She would like to be able to play her oboe in a college ensemble as a non-major in music....and she would like to continue lessons (we know we would have to pay for those). She's looking for a not to big school...stats are top 6% of her class, 3.75 weighted GPA (that will go up because she is taking only honors/ap classes that are not offered at her school until 11th grade), good commitment to ecs in music both in and out of school.

The Chapman website gives details on what their avg. admitted freshman stats are. I believe its around a 3.5 GPA and an 1100 SAT? Something like that.
The admissions pages is extremely helpful, as is their FAQ.

Has anyone who applied to the Film School and was a finalist heard yet?

i appliedm, got accepted and will be attending next fall as a freshman...anoyone else who is going to go there please let me kno!

Did you get any scholarships or aid?

I am going to be a freshman next year at chapman :) I got in with about a 3.9 (weighted) gpa, 27 on my ACTs (I'm horrible at standardized testing)..however I think that they really take the whole application into account, especially the essay. I am undecided as far as my major, but the fact that they say their essay is generally "1000 words" means that they take a lot of time to review everything. I also got a Dean's Scholarship (12,000/year). Hope that helps :)

I am going to be a freshman next year at Chapman. I will be a Music Education Major and possibly an Art minor. My friend applied for film and still hasn't heard from them.

hellooo, yes i did, i heard from film a looong time ago, I got in with a scholarship, and no you don't need an interview

Do you guys think this will help during classes at Chapman.

It's a pen scanner for scanning text.
