I guess the better term would be pre-pharmacy since that's the undergrad term. Anyways, I've been accepted to UT for pre-pharmacy, and I plan on completing the undergrad/prerequisite courses in 2 yrs and applying to UT's pharmacy school. Is there anyone who has gone down this path or is planning to do so? What are your thoughts on only having 2 yrs of undergrad while all your friends in other majors stay for all 4 yrs and get a bachelors? Was it really difficult trying to do everything in just 2 yrs? Do you think that's the right choice to make?

My mom is a OBGYN (Obstetrics and gynecology physician/doctor) , and the pharmD that works with her took this path and graduated from the UT College of Pharmacy. She told my mom that she was apprehensive about leaving undergrad but in the end the idea of starting her doctorate in pharmacy as soon as possible was very appealing to her. She also told my mom that UT Pharmacy opened up many doors for her in terms of career possibilities. My mom told me that this particular pharmacist, who graduated from UT pharmacy, is very well trained. My mom also told me that in her hospital the pharmD is given the same level of respect as a MD.

Wait. I got accepted into the College of Natural Sciences. Does that mean I didn’t get accepted into the Pre-Pharmacy major? I’m confused…

Also, I’m planning on going down the pre-pharmacy route then applying to the pharmacy school. Are you coming straight from high school and wanting to finish your pre-pharm courses in 2 years? If you’re gifted in math and science, I say go for it. I would want to finish everything I could AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, since pharmacy school is 6 years. If you’re not so good at math and science, try spreading out the courses so you can finish the pre-pharm courses in 3 years. UT is stressful and I heard chemistry is especially hard at UT.

I’m coming from a community college and I was planning on being a teacher so for my first 2 years, I only completed College alg, trigonometry, and geology for my maths/sciences. I’ve now finally realized if I want money, go into math and sciences so I decided on pharmacy. I’m just now completing bio 1 and intro to chem…I wish I had started off knowing I would need all these sciences so I could have completed them a lot earlier as well.
