Anyone NOT enjoying the "hook-up" culture?

I think I would prefer one girl to hang out with on a regular basis to a random hookup from a bar or party. However, that is not usually the choice with which I am presented. More often, it's hook-up culture or nothing at all.

I love home-cooked food over fast food, but when I'm really hungry, I will enjoy fast food just as much. Starvation isn't fun.

lol@ the comparison btwn sex and starvation, it's actually quite accurate

so according to you guys, it's actually NOT that big on campus? do people care if you don't do it?

q-mark... only very few people do it. You're acting like it's some huge deal when it isn't. Some people like to have random sex, if you don't, don't worry about it. Of course the guys will care because they'll probably want to have sex with you.

It's hyped up into a big deal. That's what I thought too before University. Then it never lived up to the hype.

No. Generally, choosing not to have casual sex with acquaintances is tolerated on college campuses.

edit: I can't believe there are people who don't understand why hookups exist in the first place. How much do you actually know about human sexuality?

jack, you have to understand the type of person that the average CCer is.

There a a TON of people who don't enjoy the hook-up culture.

I really don't like it myself. I tried it once and it wasn't all that great. It's just all hyped up. If anything, people talk but they don't really walk. An average student at my school actually does 3 hook ups over the course of four years.

Co

Its fine. Don't worry so much. Its not like they aren't enjoying themselves. lol

The hookup culture is not retarded ... it exists for a reason.

I myself now find it stupid, but was into it the beginning of school and hence understand why people do it. It seems attractive at first, but the cons far outweigh the pros.

Btw, I'm a guy.

q-mark, if you're not enjoying it, then trade places with me, because I want in,

I used to like it somewhat.
Now I'm bored with it and hope to get into a relationship sometime in college.

Hey, we party too. Sex is sex, at 16 or at 20.

Well, I understand 16 year olds have/enjoy sex. I was just a bit surprised to hear a 16 year old say his sex drive is "through the roof." I'm surprised that sex is such an important part of high school relationships. In regards to your "first few dates" thing, are there girls willing to give it up to you that quickly??? Edit: girls looking for a relationship, not just girls. obviously there are girls just looking for a hookup type thing.

High school is a completely different lifestyle, it doesn't matter who you are.

^Meaning???

high schoolers don't really have a clue til they are there.

Not that its a big deal or anything, but I mean a 16 year old's point of view is going to be quite a bit different than a college student.

^Ok, got it. I agree with that. High schoolers tend to have a very ing

The hookup culture is immoral

I don't think there's anything immoral about it. If I have anything against it, it has nothing to do with morals. I would be more concerned about the health risks of hooking up.
