How many here took the CHSPE exam, passed it, and went straight to CC before graduating high school? What were your reasons for it and do you guys have any regrets of not graduating? How're you doing in CC right now?

CHSPE : About the Test

"If you are planning to attend a university or college, contact the individual institutions to verify entrance requirements."

I took the CHSPE at 15 and went straight into a cc.

I would not recommend doing this. Personally, I was not mature enough and ended up dropping out in order to work for a software company. Also, you will regret not participating in the social scene later on in life.

I'm currently transferring over to UCB.

Yes I took it. I am a born again gangster. I used to think I was 2 cool 4 school.... Not anymore... I have given up my gangster ways. The only drive bys I do now are at fast food restaurants. West Coast!

^^ lol. ditto

Technically, I dropped out of school when I was about 12 or 13 years old.

PooperScooper, that's actually a pretty great story that you were at least able to go to UCB after dropping out. I wholeheartedly plan on graduating from high school but I just wanted to see how many people here (as there seems to be quite a bit) did take the CHSPE route and the reason behind it.

Pooper: Just make sure no one knows you in person. It's illegal to withhold grades like that.

Thanks. I have always been too embarrassed to share this with anybody (beyond close friends), so thank God this board is anonymous.

Pooper: That's the best part, unless everyone wants to get together. I'm sure no one would admit they're RCHANG in person

Lackofsense: Thanks for the heads up, but I don't know what you're talking about. = ) (fix)

Pooper: I guess you weren't here long enough to know RCHANG. Don't worry about it

Don't you mean KidRobot, aka Rchang, aka lazyxboi?

I was actually referring to your first reply. = )

A quote would be nice. I'm totally lost

I know there isn't any evidence. That's why I'm telling you not to let anyone know about it. The UC's require that you submit ALL college work regardless of history. I remember reading about it somewhere, but I can't find it for the life of me.

Grades that are older than 5 years are still counted. You just go through academic renewal. Meaning that they'll focus more on the current grades.

I guess there are a few other members that were part of the 2 cool 4 school crowd huh.

I took the CHSPE and have not regretted it at all. High school was just not for me. Now I'm transferring to UCLA (admitted to UCI, UCSB, UCSD and UCLA), and I assume they're cool with it, since I wrote about how jumping into a CC where no one was going to hold my hand (or even give me good information...) really forced me to grow up for my personal statement.

Like Matt, I don't regret taking the CHSPE to get out of HS anyway. HIgh school wasn't for me either. My HS grades were so awful that I wouldn't have been able to get into any college applying as a freshman. Did my time at CC and am going to Berkeley in the fall!

One more day of community college left for me...

i didnt finish high school but i dont regret it. ill be 18 years old and a junior in college . i am proud

CHSPE, HS drop out reporting in..

seriously, who needs high school? hahha..

I Dropped out of high school junior year. Lots of financial issues forced me to work so cc was a rational chose. I immediately enrolled into my local CC with the 4.0 mindset. I just recently applied to UCSD, UCSB, UCLA, AND UCB with out a diploma or any certification for high school and got acceptances from all of them. Pretty sweet fin aid to!
