neonzeus, thanks for your replay; what branch your son is attending?

njtwin -- After giving my kid's life story, I don't want to say which branch but it's not on the Eastern side of the state. I'm anxiously awaiting PSU's decision for the sibling who will be going to college next year. I'd love to have both of them in one school, but there are so many uncertainties. First, a major has to be chosen -- then the schools have to be checked again to see what their offering is for that major -- then a back-up major has to be considered (I learned something from my oldest!), and then we have to look at cost and financial packages. It was so much easier 30 years ago. I went to my state's university for $860 a semester, and didn't have to select a major until after 1-1/2 years of required general ed classes. The list of majors was miniscule compared to today's offerings.

Neonzeus, You might tell your son there are plenty of profs at UP who take attendance or otherwise take note of who shows up for class and often factor it into grading.

I got into Abington, not UP.
