well...what about people who also got accepted to ivies but instead went to Emory because of the Emory scholar money? Emory is attracting many brilliant people...

really, Emory is ranked way above NYU and BC. They are up high for a reason.

Side note:

Emory is making phone calls to Early Decision applicants who have not paid their admissions deposits... apparently if you don't pay your deposit, they'll have to "cancel your file".

...if anyone needs to get out of the ED agreement--it sounds like that's your best bet out.

Seems like they've got a lot of EDII applicants (or at least more than usual) and they need to know for sure how many people they can accept...

i hope they don't, gives me a better chance haha

i said emory and rice alot better than nyu and bc. in fact i said they were the "lower rungs of the top schools."

You can't argue that most students at schools like Emory are rejects from other schools because they take nearly 40% from ED. You can't possibly believe 60% of students were rejected from Ivies, thus go to Emory. If so, you've probably been spending too much time on here. Over 99% of students are not grades and college obsessed like the people on here, and many would look at a school like Emory as a far far reach, but would be perfectly happy going to a public school in state. There are a lot more people that think that way at Emory than many people give credit. I had the grades, etc. for the ivies, but decided on Emory because it was in the south and didn't have that pretentious ivy quality to it, and there are others here too.

For those of you responding to my comment, I in no way said that all of Emory's students are Ivy rejects. I just said that Emory has the ivy league reject student reputation.

And Emory takes 32% of enrolled students from BOTH early decision plans, the second of which allows plenty of time to recieve a rejection from an early Ivy application. I'm in no way saying that every Emory applicant already got rejected by a top-tier school, it's just a common situation for many students who enroll at Emory, and the reputation has just stuck about them complaining about it.

And most schools don't have higher admissions rates to "include more future businessmen and women." If double the number of people applied, the admissions office would reject many more qualified applicants. They have a desired class size that they want/need to fund the school. Similarly-sized schools that much low admissions rates simply have more people that want to go there.

Maybe you haven't heard of this Emory reputation, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Paradycia: that's a new one on me....interesting way to get out of ED....is this really happening? does not bode well for yield......

Idk u guys r weird

paradycia---

are you talking about ED I kids not paying their deposits?
or EDII kids who havent paid their application fees yet?

EDI kids who didn't pay their deposits.

GAH! Can they post their number of applicants already!!??!?!?!?!?!?

I know!
Gosh, I'd really like to know too..

...Probably sometime after EDII applicants receive their decisions...
(When is that, anyways?)

February 15th!!!

So I guess we have a few weeks until the applicant numbers are released.

And Emory lover, I hope you get in, because that would be a disgrace to your name if you didn't.

hahahaha yesss I KNOW! If only I could write on my app under demonstrated interest my CC user name!

14 days from today!

Me too bump
