Anyone out there for RD yet?

Hello everyone I was just wondering if anyone has submitted an RD application yet. Not to make this a competition or anything, but I just kind of wanted to see what kind of demographics are applying to NU this year. Again, I don't want this to be a "chance me" thread but my statistics are below just for comparison. Good luck to everyone!

SAT: 2060 (620 M, 650 CR, 790 W)
GPA: 4.19 9-12 (W); 3.98 9-12 (UW)
50% AP course load
Decent amount of EC's

What about you guys?

Hi! Not sure yet, but I’m considering applying to Northwestern RD ~ all depends on whether I get in ED to my top choice or not! But anyway, my stats are as follows:

SAT: 2180 (650 M, 750 CR, 780 W)
GPA: 3.77 UW (IB Diploma Candidate at #2 school in NJ, one of the nation’s top schools)
All classes I’ve taken have been IB or Honors, no College Prep classes offered at my school
EC’s: many hours of community service, started a chapter of Girls Learn International (promotes female educations), Chamber Choir member, many other activities
Awards: semi-finalist for admittance into the National Student Poets Program, the nation’s highest honor for youth poets / a national award in Poetry at the 2013 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards & many regional awards, as well
Possible Major: English (Creative Writing minor) + Economics?

Hey!

I am an international student and applying for engineering.
I submit my RD applications among with my ED and EA application.
SAT: 2100 (770 Math, 670 W, 660 CR)
GPA: We don’t have GPA and class rank but I have a predicted of 43 out of 45 as an IB grade.
My EC’s are pretty good and I organized a lot of volunteering projects.
If I don’t get into my ED school, NU is my top choice!

I’m applying RD for bio! (I’m editing my supplement right now so I can hopefully submit it on Monday.)
ACT: 35 (36 English, 35 everything else)
GPA: 4.36 weighted, my school doesn’t send rank but it’s nationally recognized and I’m nearly top 10%. At the end of this year, I will have taken 9 AP classes, 1 dual credit, 2 classes at the local community college, and my math class is past the scope of AP.
ECs: I’ve got a few leadership positions, I think around 700 volunteer hours, and I’ve received 5 academic awards (between NSE, National Merit, and AP). A couple of my ECs are pretty different and at least I think, pretty cool.
Northwestern is definitely up there, but I applied to another school ED.

hi
34 ACT
4.0 UW GPA
2 EC’s that I’m passionate about
decent amt of volunteering
quite a few awards
in a wheelchair if that makes a difference
want to major in history and possibly something else

Hi everyone! Great to already start talking to fellow RD applicants. :)

ACT: 36 (35 on math, 11 on writing)
GPA: 5.0 W (.025/semester Honors/AP/IB), 3.97 UW (1 B). 11 APs and 6 IBs (plus one IB class that I already took the exam SL for, but I am essentially doing HL coursework without taking the HL exam this year)
ECs: 5 clubs, President or Co-President of 4 of them. 3 years on County Team for one of my club activities (one of best in state, 2 seconds so far but hoping for first this year :)). About 300 hours of volunteering, about half of which is in animal rescue (really passionate about it).
NMSF/National AP Scholar/History Fair/Scholastic Writing/etc. awards

Not definitively sure about my major right now, but I will probably double in Economics and Political Science, possibly with a minor in Spanish (no idea how I would fit that all in). I am definitely applying regardless of my EA decisions, though!

Wow it seems like you all should definitely get in! Congrats on all the hard work that I’m sure you have put in.

I’m in a dilemma, though, and it would be awesome if you guys could help me out! So basically I want to double major in Econ and Urban Studies. Obviously on CA I can only list one major. In order to maximize my chances of admission, for my preferred major should I list Urban Studies, Econ, or just Undeclared? Any and all input would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

D will be an RD app, but only if she doesn’t get her top choice EA (UChicago). SAT 2200 (800cr, 680m, 720w), SAT II 790 EL, 750 US Hist, 730 Bio, GPA 3.98 uw, 4.4w, rank 3/325, 5 AP’s (all 5’s) plus 3 this year, CA public HS.

My D submitted her RD 3 weeks ago already. There is a 3 working weeks advance requirement for school report request at her HS. That means last week would be the deadline for Jan 1 application deadline due to the holidays.

DGDzDad - I’ve never understood people who apply to both UChicago and NU, they are so totally different schools. Don’t want to hijack the thread but can you help me out here?

I’m not DGDZ Dad or his daughter, but I am applying to NU and Chicago (EA). I realize that the schools are very different, but there are enough common threads for me to appreciate both, although I do lean more to the Uchicago quirky intellectual scene. I feel like at both schools there are people who love to learn and rigorous programs. There are nerds at both schools. Both have a diverse enough student population that , should I be accepted at either, I feel like I’ll find my people. For me, the top criteria were location and intellectual strength/rigor, which both schools definitely have. Admission isn’t certain at either one, so I applied to both and then will see what my options are. I would be happy at either.

Not to steal the thunder but can someone answer my question as well? I’m really perplexed and I don’t know what to do ^^^

@jack i don’t think the major you put down affects admission, unless one is in a different program, and I think yours are all in Weinberg.

I am an OOS white female from a highly acclaimed public high school. My Common App esay is about how I’m content in the place that stresses me out the most and gives me the most work to do because life is about having purpose blah blah. I have a deceased parent and financial circumstances due to the death. I am majored in Astrophysics, oh and know this is my top reach school…other than Tufts

GPA Uwd: 3.66

I’ve been taking accelerated math courses through a local University (Calculus I and Calculus II my 2nd sem junior and 1st sem senior year) and have a 3.5 GPA at the university
I also took US History over the summer there.

That’s about it really.

@euqim1 I think you’re pretty much in the same boat as me just with slightly lower SAT scores. They do accept people in our range, but from what I’ve found we’re around the 25th percentile which is basically around the lowest they accept in terms of numbers. Obviously it’s holistic review, though, so if you have strong letters of rec and a solid essay, theres still a chance. I definitely wouldn’t count you out to say the least. Plus you have solid transferring credits and ECs. I’d say you have a 20-40% chance, which is the same place that I see myself based on my research.

I applied to the Medill School of Journalism

ACT: E:34, M:27, R:35, S:31, W:10
GPA: 4.2083, 4.0 unweighted

I’ll have taken 8 APs by the time I graduate. I took all that are regularly offered except for AP Calc. I am tied for first in my class of 102 with one other person.

APs: 9: US History (3)
10: US Government (4)
11: English Lang. (5), Chemistry (4), World History (4)
12: English Lit., Biology, Statistics
ECs: Boy Scouts (prospective Eagle Scout), Student Member of the Board of Education, Yearbook Club (co-editor), Future Business Leaders of America, concert, marching, and jazz band, varsity soccer, and varsity tennis, Class of 2014 Treasurer, Student Government, and National Honor Society.

For some reason, she likes the idea of going to school in Chicago (or DC… or Boston). Of the two, UChicago definitely seems like the better fit. But she knows a N’western alum who has been singing its praises and convinced her she should apply to both and, if she is lucky enough to get into both, she can visit and decide.

Sorry I forgot to post my composite ACT score it’s a 32
