Anyone participate in a study?

Has anyone participated in a study to earn some extra cash here at Cal? I've heard of some strapped-for-cash students who've done it and was wondering if anyone could tell me about it.

I did Xlab at haas and sona systems. They pay 10-20 average for an hour of your time. If you already near haas, just plan a study between classes.

I’ve responded to one of those random postings on the Evans boards and gotten about $20 for an hour of talking about how I suck at math and physics. Xlab seems to pay really great but it’s in a weird spot on campus (and apparently it’s hard to find the building). But if you can do it, why not? I hear that there’s a show-up fee too, like if you turn up later within the acceptable arrival times and they’ve got enough people, they pay you something like $5-10 anyway. While that’s not much, you’re literally just going there and picking up money, and if you do that a few times a semester…

ive done xlab…

also try out the psych dept! they have tons of studies posted outside the Student Services Office and in the halls of Tolman …you can even have EEG done on you while you come in to the lab to sleep for the night and get paid for 8 hours or so of “research” participation

Wow this sounds like easy money O_o?

And as others have already mentioned, Xlab and Blab (Haas).

I do these fairly often.

Omg this is awesome. How did I not know about this? Who needs a work study job when you could just be a lab rat and get paid! I’m sooo signing up for the sleep one!

…and instant pay as opposed to direct deposit  glad to help…

wish i had more time to do these nowadays

This sounds too good to be true. I want to sign up for all of them now… lol.

Are most of these on campus?

i did a sleep study with the psych dept. so much fun :)

Are the studies at [UCB Psychology Dept: RSVP](<a href=“RSVP (Research Subject Volunteer Pool) | UC Psych”>RSVP (Research Subject Volunteer Pool) | UC Psych) up to date?

@crowslayer, I saw an ad in Evans about a sleep study. 24 hours without sleep?? How do they actually monitor that, do you know?

@calicious: if I remember correctly, this sleep study one that I’m talking about is at Tolman Hall, kind of near Mulford up North. I’m not sure, but I’d say at least a good amount are on campus…?

calicious; there is no such thing as “easy money”.
