I am suggesting that you should deposite the 200 bucks, but not the resident deposite. This way you only lose $200 if you choose to go to another school. This the downside of applying so early....

Well, that all depends on what you want. My parents have offered to pay the $200 deposit, but I'll be paying the $250 residential deposit so I can have a spot on campus as well. It just depends on how important living on campus is to you - in my case, it's a big deal.

yeah ditto, i mailed in the 250, esp since it's a first come, first served basis. at this point, the only thing that will stop me from attending WashU is if i get into Stanford or Columbia, which is fairly improbable. tho i did say the same thing about getting into washu too ~_~

Hey imran and Brand, are you guys going to dorm with random people or do you have specific people in mind? Which kind of dorm are you choosing? I have a hard time choosing because I have no idea what the heck I'm doing (first time living away). Thanks

for me, random people. I don't know anybody there.

well i know a couple of people at washu, so i put down the same house they were (gregg house?), which is a "modern dorm" (which iv'e heard is better than the older ones). i put a single down as first preference, but i'm open to rooming w/ others.

Hey, let all get a suit in the newer dorms. It's two double with a common room with a shared bathroom....hahaha.

ok...well I'm confused. I got my packet today and everything was there with the exception of housing forms. I indicated that I do want to live on-campus in both my essay and the FAFSA, but maybe they missed it? I guess I will call tomorrow...at least I have the enrollment form.

Oh, and 52 credits transferred! I think that's all that I've taken up till now, and I'm pretty sure they can find 8 transferrable credits from the 17 I'm taking this semester.

Last question: Is anybody doing the portfolio for the Writing Requirement? I think it would be better to take the Writing Class so I can become a better writer as I am pretty positive my CC English class was not of the same quality as the WashU class will be.

Brand, how do you get 52? Somehow my 52 credit (quarter) only transfer about 36 of them, which equal to 24 semester credit.

I dunno really. I've only taken core classes- English, History, Govt, lotta Math, Science, Economics. I've also taken Accounting.

It says "total transferable credit: 52 units" which is about half (60) of the required 120 for a degree.

I think WashU is very generous with transfer credits but my school is on the semester system, whereas yours is on the quarter system. That may make a difference.

lol i freaked out when i saw you guys got that many credits, cuz i only got 10, then i remembered im only a first year ~_~

brand, im not doing the writing portfolio cuz on the transfer credit sheet, she said it was waived for me b/c of my humanities writing class.

yeah same deal for me, but it says you have to submit a portfolio of 4/5 essays to "test" out of the class. What school did you transfer from again? I'm betting if you didn't receive the same message it is because I am coming from a community college and they want to see evidence of my work.

and hahaha chamnan can you imagine how funny it'd be if you and i ended up rooming w/o knowing it, and we both log onto CC in our room and catch each other at it?

brand i transferred from University of california irvine

yeah I'm pretty sure that's it. My Eng II class was good and I had a tough teacher, but I think I'm gonna take the class at WashU anyways. The quality of my writing will be very important in Philosophy...

hey imran, do you want to room together?...hahaha.

chamnan - at the bottom of my transfer credit eval. sheet it says "quarter hours will be transferred by a factor of 2/3." This works out if in your case 36 quarter hours were accepted which translates to 24 semester hours.

And after looking over my transcript, I realize WashU is amazing with transfer credit. They took every single credit. :)

I think I will talk to them once I arrive on campus. Somehow my other 16 credits didn't transfer.

Did they write which classes didn't transfer on the sheet? There is a spot for non-transferable classes but mine was blank, but I imagine that if you were denied transfer credit they will specify there. It may be that they are unsure of the course content by the title and you should mail them the syllabi for those courses to see if any will transfer in the end. And I don't know what this means, but at the end of mine it says "Waiver Eligibility" - 12 units with final transcript. I don't know what waiver eligibility means, though. I'll have to call but if anyone knows it'd be helpful.

Edit: Wait...I read and it says the waivers refer to general education requirements...oh well, I'll find out the specifics if I end up going there.

Yea I got those 12 credits waived too. Also, there is a blank space of the non-transferable courses. It is fine. I have two years left to figure this out. Brand, which dorm are you choosing? Man, those dorm price is ridiculou!!!!!!!!!!
