Anyone receive the "mid January" scholarship letter yet???

Please post when you get a letter-Thanks

What’s the mid-January Scholarship letter??

When you get accepted they send a letter, merit scholarships are announced with another letter in January. My son got accepted in Nov and qualifies for a merit scholarship, we are waiting to find out how much. On their site they list grade/SAT thresholds for merit scholarships.

Oh, because I know i got the acceptance letter a couple of weeks ago but didn’t know they send a separate one for merit scholarships. After looking, I found out that I probably am eligible for some merit aid and hope i get some. Thanks for help!

Haven’t heard anything yet, but I stumbled on an interesting page on their web site that will give you an estimate of both merit and need based aid, wonder how accurate it is:

just got mine today – $6.5k/yr presidential merit award

Received it today, $5000 x 4 yrs Presidential merit scholarship.

Today must be the day - $6k/year Presidential

D got hers today…7,500/year Presidential…

Yup, 5k per year Presidential. Got the letter yesterday.

My S got his yesterday to…only $3k/year…somewhat dissappointing.

They are really going have to come through elsewhere to make UVM any kind of option for us.

There is another UVM thread called “Finacial Aid”, I am follwoing that too. Hopefully, I will see something that provides ray of hope.

D received hers on Friday. 6K/year Presidential. It was a nice surprise since it helps make up the difference between the in-state for our state and UVM. D is much more interested in UVM so she was very happy.

It’s interesting that everyone seems to have received slightly different amounts for the same Presidential scholarships. I wonder if they look at the costs of other state’s in-state tuition when making the awards.

I just got 6.5K/year.

My guess is the amount is based on some SAT score scale. My son got in state to Binghamton which at 19K makes it hard to pass up, even though my son likes Vermont.

Bonacspud - I hear you…the $3k my S got, doesn’t make a dent in the difference.

I got mine today 7.5k/yr. I’m OOS from New York if it makes a difference

6.5k/year. Just might go. I am OOS though, so it is pretty expensive still. It could either be 35,000-40,000 per year, which is pretty ridiculous.

Do these scholarships change the amount of need-based aid you can get? I got $6000, which helps, but there’s no way to afford this for us without significant help from them.

D got her $5k per year Presidential yesterday. Vermont is such a nice school - but just like others, I wish it were more

antigoneivory, financial aid isn’t affected by your merit scholarship, or at least i’m pretty sure that’s what the letter said!
