OOS Financial aid packages arrive for anyone yet?

So stressful waiting for these envelopes to arrive!!
I called a few days ago and they said fin aid will be sent out this week.

Been checking the online “my Marist” account also.

Can’t believe we have to decide by May 1st but still don’t have enough info to make the big decision. Would like to go back and see schools again.

Has anyone else received fin aid from Marist?

We are waiting for the financial aid from Marist as well! Seems there should be a better way. Hopefully they are generous! Does anyone know what kind of financial aid packages (need-based) they have awarded in past years?

Please don’t pin all your hopes onto Marists financial aid package. We were sadly disappointed last year, even after reconsideration monies were due us, Marist still lagged behind my S’s other 2 top schools. Marist did not meet all our demonstrated need. Their upfront scholarship was lower than every other school (5) he was accepted to. (tuition was slightly lower @ Marist). However, my S is loving it there (Frosh) and is doing really well academically. He has made a ton of friends with like interests, and is happy to return after breaks. Guess that says it all. Go with your heart if you can financially, and don’t regret the bigger bucks offered elsewhere, it would be meaningless if you are unhappy. Transferring ends up costing more usually. Good Luck everyone! This is such a stressful time for y’all, I am not envying you! :)

Getting anxious now, I thought waiting for ED acceptance was hard! I greatly appreciate the stories of how happy the students are, that will definitely help deal with the loans to come…

I called them up today and was told that they will be on-line Friday. They have said that they will not be sending hard copy of financial awards, so don’t bother waiting for that mail carrier.

kathiep, thanks for the heads up. I’m getting anxious now about FA, just want to have time to consider all our options. S doesn’t care, he’ll sign anything just to be at Marist now!

Okay, here it is - $12,500 total, ugh. And that includes another $3000 in loans!

Where did you find the FA award? I can’t find mine.

sorry guys, been there, I feel your pain…But can I say Marist is worth it? you bet!

How do you find your award? I cannot find mine no matter what I do.

It’s under the myMarist section. Although my son set me up with a password, I can only get into the “cashnet” part, where I see the bill. He had to log in with his password to see the financial aid info.

ummm, which password? My daughter is trying to log in with the log-in info she got while waiting for a decision (User name and password in letter they sent.) She also tried using the campus wide id from her acceptance letter in various combinations with the other one. No go all around. So frustrating to have this happen on a Friday evening—I don’t imagine there is anyone available now at the college to help us.

They sent out a hard copy via mail on Thursday… We live local and got ours today. Gave us really good aid… but son is deciding not to attend.

ctinct - my son had similar issues at first, but he is going in for computer science, so he right away emailed the admin person for the myMarist section and they set him up.

Thanks. Was going to wait for Monday, but we got a hard copy in the mail today. It wasn’t the worst aid pkg. she got (that “honor” goes to Providence), but neither was it the greatest. Thankfully, her #1 school gave her a wonderful pkg., as did our state school. Actually kind of bummed about our state school, but not for the reason you might think. We already knew she had free tuition, but the school has a fair amount of fees. I had expected the free tuition to be the total extent of her non-loan aid, which would have made the cost close to what her #1 choice will be. But…when we got the state school pkg. Friday, it included about $4000 in grant money, which makes it quite a bit less expensive than her first choice. I think she will probably attend the other school, though, as it is a much better fit.

If your student chooses to attend Marist, I hope they enjoy the gorgeous view of the Hudson from the library often. That was the best!

@ctinct I am navigating this process once again, S is a jnr. He’s planning to apply to Marist. We are already paying OOS tuition at Storrs for D, so I’d be really interested to know what your D’s “#1 school” is… Trying to see where the wonderful packages are. What were your D’s stats, EC etc?

sent you a couple of pms.

ETA: looking at the lists again, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of lesser known schools, but the same idea still holds. check out the schools % of need met.

I got a pretty good package. Well, compared to other schools. UC Irvine is giving me less than 5k so I figure the $10,000 presidential scholarship was a pretty good deal. Marist is basically paying for everything except for my EFC, which I’m totally fine with.

happy for you!! :)
