I am a sophomore, looking into med focused summer programs and I’ve found a few I’m interested in, and I was wondering if anyone has gone to any of these or has any others that they recommend. I’m not looking to spend a fortune on these programs. If anyone can tell me what they thought about these programs (not just about academics, also the campus life as well) it would be greatly appreciated!

@mnw512 I attended the Georgetown Medical Institute last summer. The lectures and labs were interesting but not particularly challenging. A lot of the students were not interested in participating, so the atmosphere around the program was not as positive as I would have liked. It’s a really nice campus and we were able to walk into town whenever we weren’t in class. However, the Georgetown area is pretty expensive as a whole.
If you’re looking for a competitive program, I would not recommend the GU institutes. But if you are looking for something interesting and fun to during your summer it’s definitely worth attending. And in terms of pricing, the program is definitely not cheap, especially considering the fact that it is only a week long.
This sounds so negative, but I just wanted to point out the things that you can’t find on their website specifically. I did enjoy the program though. It definitely helped to widen my perspective on possible career paths other than what I already thought I knew I wanted to do, so that was a definite plus. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask!
