Well, of course, she exists. Margaret Schmidt Campbell is the Dean of Tisch, as well as a professor at NYU. She is not a part of the Admissions office. It's true that there is a committee for each college in the Admissions process but there is not a Dean of Admissions for each separate college. Those letters that are sent out are standard letters upon receipt of applications. They are not likely letters.

Yes, Sunday at the Square events are held in March. And, yes, Niihla, regular decision applicants will not get a decision until April 1. As I said, Sunday at the Square invitees are the top of the applicant pool, students who NYU wants to convince to accept their offer in April. If you receive a Sunday at the Square invitation, that means good news is on the way.

I am sorry I included the word admissions in my first post...so matth you recieved a hand signed letter from a dean to? because it seems this is what standard means...right?

i got a handsigned letter from tisch a few months back - i don't think it means anything unfortunately. let's just cross our fingers that we get that Sunday at the Square letter. what programs are you guys applying to at tisch?

Yeah, I made the mistake of inserting the word admissions...so, again, lets get over ourselves, and stop. So I am assuming since these letters are so standard everyone here has gotten one? Right??

I think they are standard in that many are sent out, and they are not a likely letter or a guanatee of sorts that implies you will be accepted. However, I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't get one. Perhaps you were someone who they wanted to market to and encourage to apply, maybe you live in an area where they want more apps from, there could be many reasons for the letter, who knows?
