Last day to make up my mind on which school to choose. I am thinking la would offer a better social environment but cal will offer a better education.

I wouldn't say regret about turning down cal but I know I can probably get a better education there since im engineering major but I liked so cal and UCLA's environment so much better than Cal's

I agree with kick; even though I can probably get a better education in engineering at Cal, I turned it down because I just fell in love with UCLA's environment after I visited the campus. For me, I'd rather attend a university I love for 4 years than go to one that I don't like just for the prestige behind it's name.

I have not once regretted my decision.

I hope I can say that UCLAri later in life.

How can you not say it? For one, you can't run the counter-factual. You just gotta make the best of it in the long run either way.

mangazero,did u choose cal?

roger that

boo... T_T

boo -____-'

rogue, u are going to ucla?

I have never regretted my choice to attend UCLA over Cal, but I have also not regretted my son (a high school senior) having chosen Cal over UCLA. I know he would have loved both. For him, he was looking to maintain his unique qualities, a place where he felt he'd fit in. I guess I felt the same.

You will probably enjoy college wherever you go. I chose UCLA because I liked its atmosphere and it just clicked with me much more than Berkeley. So take the one that you feel deep inside is the right choice.

Or flip a coin if all else fails.

Ditto that :)

Sometimes when I get on a plane to go home I think "Eh, maybe would have been easier living across the Bay instead of 6 hours away".

Then I actually get home. And I thank God for those 6 hours. Seriously now.

:)

I am weeks away from completing my first year at UCLA. I, too, do not regret the choice. I live in LA and am used to the atmosphere.

As an English major people will argue that Cal would offer me a better education. However, the gap between the departments aren't night and day. UCLA is home to some of the most notable professors in the community.

Fixed.

lol

I agree.

I agree w/Racofrag. Even in my day, the profs were amazing. I heard the last of my old profs, Prof. Rodes, retired about a year ago, so you won't get his brilliance (unless you go down to the Armand Hammer museum -- I think he is still lurking about there). I had Rodes for my senior seminar "Chase of Wit" class -- mostly Moliere, if I remember correctly. My other favorite, who has since passed away, was an emeritus prof. and world reknowned on the subject of James Joyce. Very cool guy. I don't remember any course (other than Milton) that was sleep inducing.

All i can say is that ucla is waaayy better than berkeley....if you had picked ucla you would not have regretted it....Cal does not measure up anywhere close to the package you are getting at ucla...period...case closed...
