Has anyone signed up for the MAE yet?

I signed up for it.

Im just going to wait and see and take it at orientation. hope i passed Calc BC AP test

Do you have to sign up in order to take it at orientation?

“No, the MAE will not be given in July during Bear Facts Orientation. The MAE exam is necessary to enroll into a UCR Mathematics course. In addition, many disciplines including Chemistry and Biology, require Mathematics before enrolling into entry level courses in these fields. Therefore, students who have not taken the MAE before July may be severely limited in their registration for Fall classes during Bear Facts Orientation.”

lame… i was hoping to just do it at orientation

Do you have to take it if you minor is going to be economics

well you have to take one course in math for your GE requirements, but if you really don’t like math you can substitute with another class like computer science.

Is it possible to take the MAE at a local high school like the Analytical Writing Placement Examination?

I’m taking it on May 30th at 1:30.
and I think for people who live far away you can find out where else they’re giving the exam, otherwise it’s on campus UCR.

i think im going to take it at 1:30 also but i havent signed up yet.

I went to the MAE site and my major (Political Science) was not listed under the colleges and majors that must take it.Do I still have to take a math class even for a GE?

Edit:Never mind I went back to the MAE site and it still says other majors in CHASS have a choice between Computer Science and Statistics.

Which should I choose?

I’m currently taking AP Statistics and Probabilities my senior year of high school but I really struggled with it and barely passed both semesters.

Jeffrey99:
I haven’t taken a statistics course at UCR, but I took CS008 (Introduction to Computing) and it was mildly easy. Just some memorization for the midterms and introductory labs on Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint).

tehlunatic:
Sign up! haha.
Also, what math are you taking this year?
Just kidding… I just saw that you said you hope you passed the Calc BC AP test…
Yeah… anyway… Sign up!

yea im planning to.
Just waiting to see if that is the one my friends signed up for as well.
road trip with 4 guys haha

Road trip? Coming from someplace far?

no not really. i was just exaggerating. Im coming from La Palma which is near Knott’s Berry Farm in Orange County

lolol ): i am probably going to take remedial math courses… I took trig during my sophomore year… never touched math again. T___T I’m going to fail thisss!

tehlunatic:
Oh you don’t live too far… maybe like an hour to an hour and a half away. I actually used to live in Orange County, In Placentcia. I live in Chino now, which is pretty close to Riverside.

i just signed up on 1:30 saturday. anyone else going on this date?

fyi i looked over the practice test and it doesnt seem that difficult. prolly like algebra 2 or trig with little bit of pre-calc
