Have any history majors heard yet? Perhaps they are making decisions on each department individually, and some majors are the last to know.

This is pathetic, I don't care anymore. If UCLA doesn't want me then nevermind.

I called UCLA a few hours ago, and I asked them when the next batch of admission decisions were probably going to come. Unfortunately, the only response I got was that they are TRYING to send all of them by mid-May. But I also asked if it was possible that they may send application decisions after...and they said yes...and I went a step furthur and I asked if they might send it after June 1st (the SIR deadline)...

THEY SAID "YES"...how g a y is that.

well u know what, may 15-may 20 is my deadline. If they don't respond by then, my SIR goes to UCSB and i will be partying in IV with no regrets.

"...and I went a step furthur and I asked if they might send it after June 1st (the SIR deadline)...

THEY SAID "YES"..."

those admission people should be FIRED on the spot. they are wasting our valuable budget in a budget crisis. You would never hear such thing as extending deadline two month from the supposed deadline in industry.

June?

How can they expect anyone to jeopardize their place at a university next year by waiting for them? No other school in the UC system is going to extend their deadline so we can see if UCLA wants us.

I've never been to UCLA, but I've been to UCSD, and (thank goodness) they've already accepted me. I've been having second thoughts about UCLA, as I think I might be happier living in San Diego than in Los Angeles.

I currently live in Northern California and next weekend (21-22) is the only one that I have open this month to drive to LA. I figured I would know their decision by then. I would not be comfortable making a decision without going down there and checking it all out for myself, but it is certainly a long way to drive without knowing my admission status.

GoGauchos, I agree. Whatever UCLA's deadline is, mine is looking like Saturday, May 21.

Gogauchos.....Sabrina, yeah, I completely agree with you all. It's really unfortunate, but UCSB is a great school and I know that you'd love it there. I'm from there (not Goleta, SB) and it's just a wonderful area to go to college. Good luck to you both. May21st sounds reasonable.

Thanks, BruinMichelle. It's a nice area down there, that's for sure!

GoGauchos, my best friend graduated from UCSB and LOVED it. I agree with Michelle -- it is a wonderful school, and I'm sure you'll have a great time if you end up attending.

Hopefully UCLA will get their show on the road shortly, though...and give us a heads-up. I can't imagine they will hold out on us much longer. (Or make that, I don't want to imagine they will...) :(

If UCLA does not send a response before the deadline of your second choice, accept the acceptance of your second choice. If UCLA does accept you, I am sure your second choice would understand you taking back your decision. That is how it worked in high school.

Thanks bruinmichelle and sabrina26 for the nice words, my brother recently graduated from UCSB last June and he also had a great time while attending school there. I visited him a few times and I always had great experiences, it's a very fun place. Also, its ranked top 45 in the nation now, so it's also a great place to attend academically.

As for elizapontiac's post, that is a very good thought. I would send in my SIR to UCSB, but I'm not sure if UCLA will reject me for doing that or not. For all we know, UCLA is waiting for people to give in and submit their SIR's to their second choice school so it would be easier to reject people. But, i'm a very patient person, so I am just going to wait them out and force them to make the choice; that is until may 21st hahaa.

For anyone still waiting for word from UCLA, The decision site went down at 8 pm as scheduled, but you could try creating your login as a way to see if you have been admitted. Others have learned of their admittance from this method. Maybe the decision site is a just a little behind....in reporting.

i got in to ucla today in the evening. i checked it at around 3 and it was pending but when i checked it at 6 they updated it. yay! i hope everyone here hears soon!

it'd be really nice to find out today so if i get rejected, I could go to UCSD's transfer admit day tomorrow.

I GOT INTO UCLA!!!!!!!!!!!

its still pending on the site, but i was able to create a pin number and accept the SIR and all of that!!!!!!

omg this is the greatest day i've had in sooooo long!!!!!!!! I can't believe i'm a Bruin now.

So what are you going to be a Gaucho or a Bruin lol?

And what was the website where you could create your PIN?

i'm going to be a Bruin for sure, i just really like UCSB a lot and i thought i would only get in there.

the website i checked for the pin was:

LOL I THINK I GOT THAT TOO!

OMG! WOOOOOOOOOOO!

Does it say create a PIN and a challenge question?

If that's true...THEN I'M IN!

damn, it didnt work for me :(

That pin thing worked for me also! Does it actually mean we got in or what?!?!!?!
