I've been seeing that many people have been notified on their appeal, my son sent his in right away and he's still waiting on a response.....still "pending/under consideration"

i’m still waiting for mine… i honestly don’t have much hope left right now considering that an immense number of people are getting their appeals granted…

i’m wondering if anyone DIDN’T win their appeal yet

Thanks for the response, I just checked again and its still pending…ughhhh, frustrating…I hope theres a response either way soon.

I think it depends on when you sent in your appeal because I heard it takes around 5-6 weeks to process.

When did you send in yours/when did the office receive your appeal?

My decision is also pending /:

I sent mine in on the 14th and they received it on the 16th.

@lilaznsweety1
I feel the exact same way T^T. I’m wondering if this means that we’re not going to be accepted… D;

What did you guys appeal about? What other documents did you send in? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY…Was there something wrong with our appeal packages? D;

At least we know we’re not alone /: … We can get through this together! :D

@threadstalker same for me too!!! i sent my appeal in on the 14th… so im hoping theyre doing it by when you turn it in, because the five weeks arent up yet! ahahaha all the people i know from my school who appealed to uci got in except me… still pending DDD:

im really praying the best!

They’re still accepting freshman appeals, over a month after the deadline, so if they’re still accepting NEW appeals I’m pretty certain you guys will be fine UCI is seriously under enrolled for freshmen this year (they were too selective, it bit them in the ass) so they’re trying to make up for that now o:

@SummonerLenne

Hello! I read some of your posts about how you believed that all of the people on the waitlist would get in because of the under-enrollment. And when it did happen and you said that the same thing will happen to those who appealed, I really had a lot of hope.

But then, UCI is accepting even more appeals now so that means that we’re going to be compared to an even greater amount of appealers. If they’re opening spots for new appealers and we/I haven’t gotten our/my decision yet, doesn’t that mean that they’ve already reviewed our application and don’t want us? );

I’m sorry if I didn’t make sense xD. Please enlighten us D:

Hi, I have question regarding the appeal. I’m currently on the waitlist and someone told me i can appeal while being on the waitlist. My question is where do you guys appeal the decision at? Online? or by mail?

i appealed by mail. but I read a lot of posts that said if you’re waitlisted there’s no need to appeal because you’re already being reconsidered.

itzEdward- the details are here, [Appeal Information](<a href=“Academic Resources | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | UCI”>Academic Resources | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | UCI) . But yes, it’s by mail I know it says the deadline has passed, but as of a few days ago they were still accepting appeals- though if you want to be safe and double check, call the admissions office.

ThreadStalker- well, first off, obviously I could be wrong about any and all of this. It’s not like I work for UCI or anything (uh, if I did, I wouldn’t be obsessively checking their admissions website everyday to see if my appeal or waitlist status has changed lol). I’m just some girl who has been obsessively researching UC admissions information for the last few weeks in an attempt to will the days to fly by quicker SO I CAN KNOW IF MY APPEALS WORKED, lol. And the appeals ARE different than the waitlist in that, waitlisted students are ones UCI WANTED to accept but couldn’t, so it’s easy to say “you all get in”. If someone appealed UCI with a 3.03 and a 1400 SAT score or something, I think it’s a lot less likely they’d be accepted- though maybe still even possible, but I can’t say for certain. I do think all those who are as competitive as UCI has been in previous years, and even a bit below that, are safe because, well, they need the students- they need the money. I can’t tell you why they haven’t gotten back to you yet, but I highly doubt it’s cus they have rejected you- they would just update the website to say as such. I personally think- again, this is all just conjecture and educated guesses though- that they’re trying to see how many people accept with each batch, and then send forth more acceptances, because they don’t want to go too far the opposite direction and over enroll. So this means that yes, your appeal was probably less competitive than others who have heard back already, hence them hanging onto it- but again, if they just wanted to say no, I think they would have. The thing is, it really MAY take till August to hear back. The reason UCI can take that long is actually a really lovely thing- they want to make certain all the seats are filled, so that late July early August date is to see how many students opted out of their SIR’s, how many they had to deny admission to after all cus they didn’t finish A-G, etc etc.

I can’t say with any reasonable certainty that the priority for appeals will go to those who appealed earlier- I think that’s fair, but I don’t know. I DO think that the number of after the deadline appeals sent in will be very low, as they haven’t changed the website as of yet to reflect this extension of the deadline, and as such very few people know it’s an option. If you want though I can call them tomorrow and ask them if those who appealed earlier get priority over those who did after the deadline. (Which’ll also confirm that they are still accepting appeals.)

Whoooo that comment was long lol. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US o:

pleasecollege- If you were put on the freshman waitlist, you should have heard back by the 15th and have been accepted already o: If you haven’t heard back, you should call up UCI and ask them why. If you’re like me and on the transfer waitlist, unfortunately the under enrollment of freshmen should have no effect on us (Blah! Blah I say!) and it’s just based on how many transfer students give SIR’s, which we won’t know till June 2nd at the earliest. I sent in an appeal as well, because that way if I didn’t get accepted off the waitlist at least I had another back up, but most schools do give you a few days to appeal if you learn you’re rejected off the waitlist. (Most, UCLA is not letting people this year cus they’re. UCLA.)

T^T hahaha, that was veryy longg, but VERY informative! THANK YOUU very much Your posts always give me hope xD

I also plan on calling the admissions office tomorrow!
I hope we all get in too! (:

I guess we’ll all just have to hang in there for awhile longer (: (: (:

Okay, if you’re gonna call them I won’t then cus I really should be focusing on finals lol :P. Speaking of… LOGS OFF THIS WEBSITE

And we can do it! Woooooo! Things! Feelings! Luck! … Things! Okay I’ll stop being weird.

@summonerlenne i’m not entirely sure how they outweight the appeals and waitlist because it surprises me to hear some waitlisted applicants haven’t heard back yet. I appealed and was accepted. I hope everything works out for everyone waiting for UCI or any UCs in general!

Not everyone has heard back yet from appeals, but everyone should have heard back from the waitlist, as according to UCI anyway.

for the UCI appeal package, it requires a college transcript… my question is does it have to be an official transcript?

It’s too late to appeal. Only transfer appeals were due last week. Freshmen were over a month ago.

I’m a transfer haha i just called them right now and they said i can still turn it in

Hi again! I don’t know if anybody else was wondering the same question I was, but I’ll post the answer here anywayyy, just in case :D.

I called the admissions office to ask if the people who appealed after the deadline have the same priority as the ones that appealed before/on time and a man (that was very nice and had such a dreamy voice xD ) answered and said no. The people who appeal after the deadline have a VERY slim chance of being accepted…

Soo…I’m not sure how this information can help us xD.
He also said that we’ll be notified early July (or was it June…d a r n… probably July) to late August. The reason is that they have to see the transcripts of those already admitted. But he said there were a few exceptions and that people can be notified earlier…

I’m not sure if the exception is the under-enrollment or not…but…yeahs (x that’s all I got /:

Sorriez…I hope I helped! ^-^

The exception is totally under enrollment lol. But ya, it’s not too late to submit an appeal, though who knows if it’ll work o:
