Anyone still waiting to hear about aid?

My D tells me that Loyola has sent her a letter saying that aid notification will be on or before April 15th. We are about to embark on the 'last look' tour and have yet to hear from the school in this regard; is anyone else still waiting to hear about aid? Thank you in advance for all replies...

a friend of my d is still waiting to hear (as of yesterday)

You should be getting your Aid package soon. It will not be a scholarship and will be based solely on your Financial need. This is true of all colleges not just Loyola. Take Loyola's Total Cost(around $45,000) and subtract your EFC from the FAFSA and Scholarship money and that is the highest amount of Financial Aid that you can receive. You also get less as an incoming freshman because you are unproven academically and a high risk to a lender. Expect less aid if your EFC is higher and expect mostly Federal loans and Work Study offers otherwise you will be disappointed. This is true of all schools not just Loyola. I am trying to save you from being upset about what you are offered. Only people with low EFCs will get free money off their bills. Good luck! Remember this has nothing to do with how good your child is academically and whether they are honors students. That was what the academic scholarships were for.

I have sent three kids to three different schools and talked to Financial Aid counselors at Towson and this is how it works. They even expect your child to contribute to the costs through summer jobs etc.

And I live in D.C

I am looking for some feedback on what your opinion of the Financial Aid package that you received from Loyola is? I would like to hear how it compared to my comments of what to expect. I just think some contributers here had too high an expectation as to what Financial Aid is about. Therefore, what is your opinion now that you have your offer? and was it close to what I laid out as what you should expect.

Well, I don't really know what to say about their plan, except I think it was very generous. I am very happy with the grant I received. On top of the scholarship, and the savings I have(which really isn't all that much)-Loyola for me is practically a free ride.
