I am trying to figure out why we dropped 2 spots because it does not make sense to me. I think this class was stronger than last years, the endownment is up, so what the heck happened. Did our peer assessment (which I still think is bogus) drop?

Everything I see is this University going up, so I do not understand why we drop in the rankings. Oh well, perhaps this is why I do not trust them much. I refuse to use the rankings for my graduate school search because of things like this.

If anyone has insight, please let me know because I don't get it!

Maybe the rest of the universities also had a lot of improvement as well?

That is possible, but it just surprised me. I wish I could look at the stats and see where we slipped, but that would take money and I don't have that, lol.

all that really happened is that emory switched places with ND. it just seems like more because it's two spots.

True, since we were tied. Still, darn Emory, lol.

It just bugs me because people look so closely at those rankings and may make decisions based on which school is just a couple spots higher or lower. What they don't realize is how very little the differences are in the rankings which is why the schools change year in and year out.

I have just never been a fan of the rankings, though I still care where we stand on the list. It is kind of ironic.

Irish your dead on about the peer assesments, they are total garbage. Most (i believe) cannot get past the absolute fanatical dislike of Notre Dame they refuse to admit that the place is more then just football. There really is magic at the place and that drives the rest of them nuts.................
