Anyone successfully transferred into Harvard?

Harvard transfer may seem impossible, but there are still about 12 accepted last year. Is there anyone who got into Harvard or willing to transfer? we can share our stats!

I was a transfer and worked with the transfer program for many years. Think 3.8+ (usually higher) in another top school, plus outstanding college ECs, plus a unique story (self-taught immigrant, studying in an obscure field that was eliminated at the first university, switching from a dual-degree conservatory program, etc.). Do not plan for this.

Hi Hanna. I was wondering whether it is worth for me to apply. I currently study in the liberal arts college in the Netherlands on full scholarship after IB program. I am from a developing Eastern European country. I have a 4.0 GPA and I am seriously involved in a couple of extracurricular activities. I am also doing a full-time research internship now. The problem is, I have exhausted all of the courses in my concentration here already and this education is not nearly up to my standards. I really want to go to Harvard because of one of the departments, outstanding professors and most importantly, the student body, because honestly I do not remember when was the last time i had an intellectual conversation with any of the students around here. To make it, I would also need a full scholarship. Do you think I have good chances? (I know of 1% acceptance rate and need-blind admissions). Also, what would i need to have in SATs?

You should probably start a new discussion, this one is from 3 years ago. Anyway, if you think you’ve exhausted all opportunities in you current college and that Harvard and only Harvard offers something that your college doesn’t, it would be worth a shot to apply. Your SAT’s would need to be nearly perfect, as well as the rest of your application. Also, as a transfer you have to be very specific in your reason for going to Harvard. “One of the departments and outstanding professors” is not specific enough - Is there a particular research going on that you would like to take part in? A professor whose appeals to you so much you are dreaming of becoming a member of his research group? Don’t worry about a full scholarship - if you get in, Harvard will provide you with all the financial assistance you need. So overall, if you have a specific reason and really good stats you should try your chances and apply. It would be nice to have another Eastern European here!
