I got into the program, and I was wondering what previous students have thought of the class. I was especially wondering about the sophomore year research component. Thanks!
I was in this program back when I first started in 2014. Not sure if it has changed a lot. First semester you take a class that is very neuron and psych focused. For me the class was actually quite difficult. It was the only B I had ever gotten at washu (and I was premed). Second semester class is basically philosophy of the mind, pretty easy class. Sophomore year for research is pretty great. They give you a list of mentors with a description of what they work on and you choose a few and interview with them. On top of this the class is graded normally and mentors almost always pretty much give an automatic A so sophomore year you pretty much already have one A for each semester. Do you have any specific questions?
Oh that’s nice. For the research part, do you think it helped your med school chances? Furthermore, was there an opportunity for it to segue into another research opportunity with that mentor?
