Anyone taking summer courses at local community college?

Since NYU costs a lot of money and i kinda wanna graduate earlier, im planning on taking courses during the summer at my local community college. Is anyone else doing this?

I called them and asked and they said that they dont really have a website stating course equivalencies. The person just told me to take liberal arts.

Has anyone taken summer school at community colleges for NYU gen ed requirements? If so, could you please suggest some classes to get rid of during the summer.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS.

NYU will find ANY reason possible to not allow you to count those credits. Get it IN WRITING that they will give you credit. “Financial reasons” isn’t justification enough to get it counted towards your MAP. NYU is really aggressive about making sure you take all of your classes at NYU.

There are two classes I want to take for sure for Gen Ed credit:

 1. Anthropology: People and Cultures of the World
 2. History: Western Civilization until 1600

These two are liberal arts correct? Is NYU really that mean, that they really dont want me to get credits at my community college over the summer!??

What about like transfer students then…They have 2 years under their belt with non-NYU courses. Wouldn’t it be just like the same for me too? haha i just really want to know if i can take summer school or not…should call them or e-mail them about my predicament?

I would, and if you don’t mind, posting their response?

You can call and ask.

I’m a transfer student, and NO. It is not the same, that is entirely different. We have to petition to have certain classes transfer, and it is an entirely different process.

You are a matriculated student at NYU. It’s their bottom line to want people to take their classes at NYU. It’s not being “mean”.

I just know from personal experience that usually when people try to take general courses at another college for “financial reasons”, there’s a lot of red tape around it. Maybe that’s just Steinhardt. I’m not sure how it works at CAS.
