I got a letter from the CEO of ACT telling me I was one of 85 test takers in the nation that got a 36 on the April ACT. They included a press release to send to local media, which I find a bit attention-whorish. I mean, it's just the April test, and I live in an SAT-dominant state. The letter says "don't be surprised if someone at the paper wants to interview you and take additional photos." I was surprised. Does College Board do anything like this for people who get a 2400 on the SAT?

My brother got a 1600 back in the day, and he got mentioned in the paper along with a few other 1600 scorers. I really don't think it's necessary, but if you want to...

Ha, I just got a 36 composite on the June ACT. I wanna be an attention whore.

Two kids from my high school had 2400s last year. They were in the papers and were famous for a day. Neither went Ivy league, though. . .

BTW - neither were valedictorian or sals either!

well i pulled it off on the june test and haven't gotten one, though i can't say i would want all the attention anyway.

A kid from my school got a 36, but had a 35 in reading, so he took it over again and got perfect 36's. He didn't get any recognition though. He was an odd one.

I got a 36 in June (35 english, 36 on the rest...) and didn't get anything. Two kids from my town this year got 2400 SATs in January and both got mentioned in the paper or at the Board of Ed meeting or something, so I wouldn't be surprised if I got mentioned too, but other than that... nope. Honestly, I'd rather not be mentioned. Eww... attention. =P

If you get a 36 they invite you to red carpet premiers and luncheons with Her Majesty.

red carpet... FUN!!!

some kid got a 36 at my school and he got a front row seat at the BET awards..he wasn't even black/hispanic.. :(

The people I have met who scored 35s or 36s on the ACT are very intelligent, but haven't gone as far in life as their lower-scoring counterparts.

It's not the score you have, it's what you do with it.

But yes, you should contact your local paper. You're not being an attention whore.

But seriously, getting a 36 on the ACT or a 2400 on the SAT won't cure cancer or anything like that. It's great to have a perfect score, but in the long run I don't think it makes much of a difference.
