I did. It was my third time taking it, and it was absolutely unbelievable. The science section was so grueling that I almost christmas-treed the last 2 articles because I was bored.

Anyone agree with me?

Anyone agree with me?

Yes 100%…call me an idiot…but Ive taken it 3 times, and I thought todays was by far the most challenging…the other 2 were taken in the Fall…The first time I took it , it was hard, the second i thought was alot easier, I got 4 points higher with out really doing much…but I felt todays was harder than both of those…

I agree

Same here. It was my 3rd time taking it and I thought the math, reading, and science were tougher than the feb test.

Really? I thought it was pretty good. But that’s probably b/c I got used to the Barron’s ones.
…now I’m freaking out

Darn! D took it for the first time yesterday and also thought the science was really difficult relative to the practice prep she did. What do any of you know about the curve? For example, on some of the red book tests one 35/40 on science yielded a 31 whereas another like raw score resulted in a 28? It would seem that the students should see what the makers of the exam do first?

my understanding is that the curve changes somewhat with each exam. they basically have a template for percentiles…therefore if the test is easier the curve will be a little harsher, if the test is hard the curve may be less harsh.

Thanks parent56! My daughter doesn’t blog much and not at all on CC, so I’m going to wait till the scores are released and we will assess at that time!

you’re welcome! the best thing to do is as you say, wait for the results and pay the extra to get the answers. that way you will know how many wrong in each section and what types of questions resulted in lost points. sometimes its the easy questions and just silly mistakes, sometimes its the hard questions and that helps guide what to study for the next time… if she noticed time problems, she can work on speed, …one piece of advice i have read is during the science section, concentrate on the graphs not on reading the questions. you can overthink the questions when usually the answer is right in the graphs.

I basically agree with you 100%. My friends and I were complaining that there were unfair parts of the science section that required too much knowledge, so we might be calling to complain.

English: Was very easy. I’ve always been good at this though. And the articles were actually somewhat interesting.

Math: Startd off too easy and that was deceiving. The end of the section had some difficult concepts, most of which I knew how to do, but were too time consuming.

Reading: Not too hard. The articles were hella boring but that didn’t stop me. A lot of the questions seemed mre specific than in the past.

Science: ■■■■ wth was ACT thinking?? Almost none of the passages were experiments, and one of them had so much irrelevant information that I couldn’t even identify the info that I needed to know. The science section was pretty tough.

Overall I think it was similar to February’s, but a little harder.

usually the curves are a lot more generous if the majority of people thought it was harder.

Hotivy…are you going to call and complain…you should…maybe they will curve it more

My Opinion on this ACT:

English - Easier than expected.
Math - Above average as expected… some difficult concepts towards the end
Reading - A LOT easier than expected
Science - Challenging for sure. Very difficult experiments to comprehend imho.

My Opinion on this ACT:

English - Okay.
Math - Okay.
Reading - I found it extremely difficult.
Science - Eh, quite challenging but not as challenging as the October ACT.

I think I failed horribly. I think I got like a 23 or 24 compared to my 26 in Feb.

The math started out easy but it got really hard. The science required too much outside information.

I fell the same way Korean.

I think I nailed the English, Reading, and Essay portions though. I’m hoping that the curve will be generous enough to land me in the upper 20’s low 30’s.

Oh Yes, I am DEFINATELY calling.

There was one question in particular in the science section (I’m not allowed to say which one it is) that was SO unfair because it required background knowledge that NO ONE knew. ALL my friends an I were flipping out about it after the test, and I’m not just going to ingnore this.

I know, I know… it was only one question, but I really do just want to get my word out.

Hotivy…you can say what question…they dont use the question again…everyone on the ACT board is discussing the test, no need to fear the “man”…but yea call and comlpain, get your friends to complain as well…more people call and complain, the more generous the curve will be

I really don’t want to get in trouble by talking specifics about the test…

…but the question pertained to planet sizes.

haha I know what question your talking about…dont worry so much Hotivy, in the ACT prep board, there is a thread discussing every question and answer…the ACT police arent gonna come after

ok ok ok omg it was the question where it was like “the largest sized planets have the most amount of this particle. Out of these four planets, which has the most of the particle?” And then it gave the 4 planets that I know the least about. I was sooooooo epically mad.
