anyone thought they would be a sure-reject from harvard, and somehow magically got in

given the 7% acceptance rate this year....harvard is obviously unbelievably competitive/selective. but is it really only the best/most outstanding/inhumanely brilliant that get in? or can fairly average kids manage to gain that prized acceptance letter?

So how many of you out there had lackluster EC's, average (in terms of the ivies) test scores and grades, and didn't think you were spectacular enough to get into harvard, or any ivies for that matter, and still somehow miraculously did?

if you wouldn't mind, could you give us a brief summary of your stats, and what you think got you into harvard?

haha looking for some inspirational stories here while i decide whether or not to apply next year..

You got a 2400 and you are seriously starting this thread?

this has arrogance written all over it...

i got in but that's cuz i got good at track. i never would have thought in a million years before track season junior year that i even had a chance at harvard. i actually even wrote an essay about how i didn't want to go to an ivy league school at the end of sophomore year. weird.
