Did anyone take a summer course at colleges in NYC without paying much? Did your summer school offer you scholarship? Thank you very much! I really need to take it but I can't afford to pay too much money. (Can't pay more than $700)

Uhm well considering that most summer programs (NYU, Columbia) cost $4000 + I dont think that any of them would be able to lower there price that much. You have to remember all the expenses that are covered in your tuition, and the duration of your stay.

Good luck

Math Circle is a math olympiad type prep program, hosted in NYU, it’s about 300 or so, and they can reduce the cost even further, [NYMC - Home](http://www.nymathcircle.org/)

other examples…hmmmm, have you considered interning?

I was just emailed today about Hunter College’s summer program. [SUMMER IN THE CITY AT HUNTER COLLEGE — Hunter College](Online Courses for Summer Session | Hunter College) The cost does not even compare to NYU or Columbia. It’s something like $300 per unit and $600 for student housing. Crazy! I’ll be coming home from my college this summer and my mom wants me to take at least one class that I can transfer back so maybe I will do it. Has anyone taken classes at Hunter? I applied to it as my safety school and got admitted but didn’t go.

Keep in mind that many expensive programs do offer financial assistance.

That is not correct. If you are a visiting student this means you are non-matric and you can’t get any aid.

Hmmm, it’s kind of tough, and why NYC though? this isn’t great place for programs, boston and CA would be better…

@Rangers: Hey, I’m looking into this same thing for summer 2013. Thanks for mentioning Hunter! I don’t know for certain if I would choose their program (still looking for options), but I will say that this place is definitely cheaper than some of the bigger universities.
