anyone here, and your major? do you really need math to be successful

I’m sure plenty of humanities, english, and liberal arts types majors have transferred without calculus…I doubt calculus is even a prerequisite for most majors. I’m not really getting this thread

It depends on your major…if you are a math/science/business major than yea Calculus will likely be a requirement. Check assist.org for your majoe pre-reqs.

isn’t calculus something that is appealing to grad schools or mba schools later?

Depends on your major and the school you want to transfer to. However you shouldnt be scared of math, calculus 1 isn’t that bad.

By the way, would it be appealing to a more prestigious university for a transfer student (biz major) to have taken higher math beyond requirements such as Calc 3 and 4 or would it not affect the admission process?

off hand, i’d say that most people who transfer haven’t taken calc.

Although it has various practical purposes, I’d say don’t take it if you don’t need it.

Thank you sir. I am relieved to hear that.

I didn’t take calculus or even college algebra (poli sci major). I took stats which is much more useful for social science majors and I’ll have to take more stats in grad school.
