How many credit hours did you have an what was your GPA? Also, what do you think is a good GPA to get accepted as a transfer?

I am trying to find this out too!

My son was just accepted for the fall 2014 freshman class. But he’ll have 55 community college hours, nearly all of which match CSM’s core curriculum. He has a 4.0 at CC (5.0 weighted for his early college charter school). He’s an in-state student.

The average GPA at CSM for entering students is a 3.8. I don’t know if that includes just h.s. and college or just h.s. But you’ll want a course load that closely matches their core curriculum.

It will depend on if you’re in-state or OOS, too.

If you’re Phi Theta Kappa there’s a good transfer scholarship. They told my son not to use it as he’ll have better scholarship opportunities as an incoming freshman instead.

We won’t know what c.c. credits will transfer for sure until next June.

As an update to my earlier post…

47 of my son’s 55 credits were accepted.

My son’s GPAs at his CC’s were 4.0 and 3.77 - he took classes at two schools to fit in all the classes he could for CSM’s Common Core. His weighted h.s. GPA was 4.95/5.0 but CSM doesn’t weight.
