anyone use Cingular wireless here?

I'm a user of cingular wireless and i was a former AT&T wireless customer. The phone Im using right now was purchased before cingular bought At&t out. My reception is pretty bad at my house. I was wondering if anyone would know if i bought a Cingular phone, if my reception would get better? I'm just asking hopeing someone on here was with AT&T before they were bought out and could help me out or give me input. thanks.

If you get a Cingular phone, you will also have to switch your current plan to a Cingular one. Cingular is pretty expensive, so you might want to check and make sure you can get the same plan or a better deal if you do switch. I would guess that your reception would be better because the phone would be newer and I think they use a different network but I am not sure?

yeah i had an at&t phone which sucked so much, now i ahve a cingular phone and its so much better

I do.......

go tmobile..its receptio nis so much better

Doesn't T-Mobile use other carriers' wireless towers, especially Cingular...?

I had AT&T, had to switch to Cingular because my brother broke his phone, and they didn't make anymore AT&T phones. Any improvement in reception is minimal.

BTW, I ended up getting a better deal when we switched to Cingular from AT&T. Instead of being confined to a specific region, we were able to get a national plan for the same price.

a friend of mine was an at&t user, broker her phone and got one in good condition(not brand new) from ebay. you can try that. it may or may not be a phone with better reception, but if you can get the specs on the new phone you should be able to compare it's reception to your current phone. worth a try.

yeah your reception would increase...cingular and at&t's phones are programmed differently, even though they're both under the same heading now....i didn't really switch from at and t to cing, but from suncom to cing (att bought out suncom a while ago) and the weeks preceding my cing switch my reception was HORRIBLE....after i got my cing phone the problem was gone....cing's plans are alot better than atts as well....although, at the rate we've been using my family plan, it's been a waste....we have a 6000 minute family plan, and have 19,520 minutes...that's just from roll over over the last 4 months or so....but then again, most of my calls are to other cing customers, since a majority of my friends have cing, and these are free....roll over for a year, free cing to cing, nationwide long distance, good coverage in most places...you could probably get the second highest individual plan and be fine...the only issue is, in charlottesville on game day....the networks are PACKED since everyones using their phones all through the same GSM tower....so it always says network busy network busy...
