I just bought this book off Amazon.com for ~$10 and was wondering if anybody used it with success. I have already gone through about a third of it and like how it is really written in a casual manner with tips that seem useful. Are these tips really "useful", or am I just wasting my time?

My GC recommended it, and I skimmed through it. I was mostly looking for advice on the CR section, and I found the book to drill general test-taking stuff. It's fine for what it's meant to be - helping kids with seriously problematic scores improve. IMO, if you're trying to get a 2100 to 2300+, the only thing that's going to be remotely helpful is simply practice. There's the Blue Book for that.

Ha, I've never heard of it but the name makes me laugh.

I got a 1970 originally and am hoping to boost it to a 2250 this Oct. I suppose askmeo88 is right in that only practice will help, but I didn't even think about some of the tips the book is suggesting. I also have the 2006 PR's 11 Practice Tests for the SAT. I unfortunately can not afford the Blue Book. I do have the pre-"new SAT" Blue (It was red then) book. I just gonna use that for the sections that didn't change.

I used it as my only study guide a week before my first SAT try. I actually ran out of time to memorize ALL of the vocabulary (I liked the clever little sentences though..they helped me quite a bit) but overall I thought I was pretty prepared. BUT my scores were pretty bad. So I suggest you use the book as a relief once in a while from all of the other dry books...because this one is VERY VERY funny and easy to read.

Oh, 1 guy on amazon said he did boost his score from about my range to about where I want to get to.

my son used it and greatly improved his score..it has lowbrow looking jokes and has sort of SAT for dummies attitude, which frankly got through to my son stopped losing points on easy questions...I'd be embarrassed to tell how much his scores went up...TONS.
