Anyone visit Weld??

Didn't want to hijack the other frosh dorms thread, so anyone visit Weld before? Nice? Make you want to gouge your eyes out? What are most of the set-ups; suites with common rooms or two people traditional style dorms? LoL, Weld is like the only dorm I DIDN'T mention in my housing questionnaire...

Here I'll just steal what wikipedia tells us, though I never knew that so many people referenced dorms in their housing forms, oh well, or else I probably would have mentioned Wigglesworth somewhere, but if I'm in Grays I'll probably be happy there:D anyway:

Weld Hall at Harvard College, built in 1870, was the second of two important additions to the Harvard campus designed by the architectural firm Ware & Van Brunt (the first being Memorial Hall).

The building was a gift of William Fletcher Weld in memory of his brother Stephen Minot Weld. Weld Hall represented a new trend toward picturesque silhouettes that became important to American domestic architecture of the later nineteenth century, as can be seen in the Queen Anne style which was popular during the same period.

Located on Harvard Yard, Weld Hall is currently used as a dormitory for freshmen at the College.

Past residents include John F. Kennedy, Michael Kinsley, Michael Crichton, Daniel Ellsberg, Christopher Durang, Douglas Feith, Neil H. McElroy, Ben Bernanke and Douglas Kenney.

Sorry, not much unless you're interested in a history lesson ;)

LoL Thanks Tony. I already scoured the wikipedia entries etc. Gah, Sergey's frosh dorms page isn't loading. Weld was like THE only dorm I didn't think about and I may have visited it when I checked Harvard out only I can't remember.......!!! Anyway actually seen Weld? Are the rooms sucky? Mostly doubles or what??? Loooong hallway set-up?

The rooms in Weld are very nice. Check out the freshman dorms page on prefrosh.net.

There are all sorts of configurations within a suite setting. There's lots of variation.

Hey, this is my first post here, but I stayed in Weld over prefrosh weekend and its pretty nice. The first thing my host said was "Weld is one of the few with an elevator" which is pretty cool. The room I stayed in had I think 4 or 5 girls, one girl I recall had a single bedrrom and there was one room that two girls shared. The rooms were long and narrow and with two beds side by side, they was only enough room to squeeze through. There was a common room in the middle with one bathroom for all 5 girls. Overall, not a bad place to live, but kind of cramped.

im in weld too :)
