Anyone waiting by the mailbox?

Dd got an email last week saying that EAs had been mailed, but that due to storms, the mail may be delayed. Anyone else get that email?

Good luck to your dd. I see she has lots of options but it would be nice to get an offer from CGA this week. New London didn't get hit as bad so you should hear soon. Last year the letters arrived in advance of the Dec. 15 date. Semper paratus!

Your dd should check out this thread on the CGA bulletin board. A bunch of kids waiting to hear.

I am also waiting. It would be nice to hear from them soon! I also received that e-mail, and I'm hoping they won't be delayed!

as of friday i have sent in everything in the mail, so CGA should be getting it soon. I took the december SAT so im hoping they will recieve that before making a decision. Any idea when I should expect a decision? jan? feb? later?

Regular decision is in late March. Sorry.

Just heard from a friend of ours in Mid-Tennessee that their son got an acceptance letter from the CGA on Tuesday.

I got a call from the CGA yesterday that I got in. You might get a call, im not sure.

No news here yet. Dd's liaison officer called a bit ago and left a message asking if we had heard. Waiting, waiting!

Congrats to the new coasties! If you decide to come to New London you will made a great decision. If the kids or parents have any questions, feel free to fire away. I can handle the parents' side and my personal advisor(and son) is home from the CGA and can jump in on the coastie side. Good luck to those admitted and those waiting!

Congrats Hugh! Still waiting impatiently here. I doubt dd is thinking much about it though, as she's doing her first cross-country flight to UT today...

Well, no singing around here--dd is an alternate. :-( Hope springs eternal, however!

Don't give up hope...that's how my son got in...he was disappointed of course initially but hung in there. Good luck!

Haven't heard anything yet! Its killing me!!!

uh oh, a guy i was talking to who had a 3.8 gpa (compared to my 3.3) and a ~1250 sat (compared to my 1360) and varsity athletics (compared to my non-varsity) just got alternate status...

so how does this alternate status work?

It means that although you were not given an early decision you are still in the running for an appointment. Some kids are outright rejected at this point. A fairly high percentage of the alternates get appointments, under the theory that they are usually strong candidates to begin with(like the kid you mentioned and heartcross's dd). My son was an alternate last year and got in. Stats were 1400 SAT, top 20% of comp. school; v.p. of class; eagle scout; varsity track and football etc etc. I was initially shocked that he didn't get the early appointment but in retrospect it seems very tough to get. Good luck and hang in there.

You guys know what I'm gonna say... It bears repeating though. Alternate status is not the end of the road you guys! Hang tough! As Boss said, his son was an alternate & is at his Academy. Jamz was an alternate & is at his Academy. Disappointing as it is to get that letter, its way better than getting that old, "We regret to inform you....." And Taffy, don't freak on us now buddy! Its not all about stats. C'mon. You guys know how this works and I refuse to see you be down about it. Keep the faith! And if you can't, sprinkle your mail box with pixie dust. Tis the season!

Ok....so they still haven't gotten it to me yet! Its driving me a little bit crazy because they said they'd get the letters to people by the 15th...then postponed it to the 17th...and they didn't make either deadline. Oh well, hopefully I will hear soon enough.

Any news yet, Soccer? Here's hoping for you!

Knocking wood, crossing my fingers, doing every lucky thing I can think of on my end. Somebody must not be doing it right on their end cause we're all still waiting.....
Tap your mail box three times and spin around once before opening it. I heard that works. Hang tough guys. HO HO HO? :D
