My D sent in a music audition and I heard they are reviewing those recordings sometime mid-April. At other schools, if you are awarded a scholarship then it shows up in your portal and you get a letter. If you don't get a scholarship, you don't hear back. Because we are right down to the wire in terms of time, I'm eager to know when scholarship decisions are made so we know whether Emory is still an option. Can those of you who are in a similar boat share any information you hear, and we will too?

@doryphorus might know. I’m pretty sure she was a music scholar. I tagged her so she hopefully sees it. I’ll text her if she doesn’t reply in a day or two.

I think this will hopefully be the week scholarship decisions are announced since final college selection has to be made in about two weeks. It seems to me it’s not in their best interests to be so late in making scholarship offers. Surely some of their prospective students have assumed by now that no scholarship offer is forthcoming and have moved on to other schools. I know Emory isn’t an option for my D without one and it’s hard to be in limbo this late in the game. It’s still her first choice so we’re waiting but I hope they cut us loose if the answer is “no.”

Again-- if any of you are also waiting on music decisions can you post if you get any information? Thanks!

I’ll go ahead and post the outcome on this for anyone in future years who might be in a similar boat. Emory was my D’s first choice but we hadn’t heard back about music scholarships yet. They offer a few 1/2 tuition scholarships (which is nice because the amount increases each year that tuition increases). We did write a couple of times to the music department, asking whether scholarship decisions were still pending and reaffirming her interest in Emory. Anyway we got a call today-- about a week before final college decisions were due-- with a scholarship offer! It’s very exciting because we could not have afforded Emory without it.

My daughter is happily checking out Emory apparel online tonight and will be heading to Atlanta this fall!

What a looong process college application and selection has been for us! I loved parts of it (fun college visits) but it never occurred to me we would not have a decision until this late in the game. For those of you in the future who are interested in music at Emory, I would recommend that you connect with faculty and keep your name in their minds. And be patient. Good luck all!

Emory’s orchestra director Dr. Prior is absolutely wonderful, very encouraging and helpful. My D plays cello in the orchestra and enjoys it very much.

That’s great to know-- my D is really excited!
