Acceptances/Rejections

UC Riverside- Accepted
Cal Poly Pomona- Accepted
Cal Poly SLO- Rejected

I will be surprise if you do not get in.

Your Gpa is a little low. However, your scores are way beyond what Santa Cruz looks for. I’d say you’re in.

Thanks for the predictions guys

Assuming I get in, would UC Santa Cruz be a better option than Cal Poly Pomona and UC Riverside?

I have heard the campus is amazing and I really want to have a “going off to college” experience.

Out of the three what would be the best choice?

What do I know but I vote Santa Cruz! Cal Poly is a definite commuter campus, you can find a good time there but it’s difficult. UCSC would be an experience for sure.

Having been on both the Cal Poly Pomona campus and UCSC, I would say UCSC would give the better experience. The dorms are designed to create close communities with the 10 college system, meanwhile Cal Poly has a bunch of large, indistinct dorm buildings.

Besides, there’s no better way to make friends than to go get lost in the forest. :P

Having been to Cal Poly Pomona, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Riverside, I say go with UC Santa Cruz WITHOUT A DOUBT.
Cal Poly Pomona was really dull and agriculture-y when I visited, which I didn’t like. The surrounding area was also not exciting. And because it’s a CSU, you are more likely than not to get a better education at UCR or UCSC.
UC Riverside was also really dull when I visited as well as the city of Riverside itself. I had one friend who attended this school for his freshmen year and disliked it to much that he moved back home to go to community college. He expected it to be vibrant and exciting and he said it ended up being something very different. However, it does have the positive of not being TOO far from cool places like Orange County and San Diego, but since Riverside is where you will actually be living I don’t like it that much.
UC Santa Cruz on the other hand is AWEEESOMMMME. The campus is amazing, the students are amazing, downtown Santa Cruz is super cool, the party scene is good, the beach is super close, the professors are great, etc etc. If you go to UCSC you’re always going to have something to do. The Catalyst is a music venue in downtown Santa Cruz, sure to always have something exciting going on. I’ve also been to a couple house parties of UCSC students who live off campus and they are super fun. Downtown there’s shopping, a cool movie theater, plenty of dining options, loads of antique stores, and more. Santa Cruz is also close to San Jose which has a whole bunch of attractions in itself. Santa Cruz is full of chill, intelligent, liberal people (which I love). And as I said before, the UC Santa Cruz campus is gorrrgeeeous - the surrounding trees are breathtaking and the newest dorms are probably the coolest place to live. Every single friend I have who goes here loves it and I highly recommend going here.
