Valkyrie - just watched it today and even though I knew the inevitable outcome (that the conspirators would be executed) I had this stupid inkling of hope that something would turn out for the better … it was kind of an emotionally exhausting movie to watch, with all the tension. But it was pretty good.

Seven Pounds - didn’t like it at all, some moments were really memorable, most of it was just lackluster. What a shame, Will Smith was great, nobody else was.

BBC Dramas (sorry, I have to get this out there!)

North & South: dear lord, this drama series & the book exceeds anything Jane Austen’s ever written! Maybe even Charlotte Bronte as well … needless to say, I am in love with North & South, lots going on. I highly suggest everyone to watch this, even though the first few eps may be boring, it’s completely worth it! You can watch this on Youtube.

Persuasion (old one)

Mansfield Park (2007), Northanger Abbey (FAVORITE of the BBC Austen book adaptations released last year)

Sex & the City Movie - hahaha wow, such a happy go lucky movie, though it got boring half way in.

Lots of old movies on YT: Age of Innocence, House of Mirth, Gone with the Wind, Dangerous Liaisons, Marie Antoinette, etc.

clearly i was quite busy in my 2 weeks off.

Best Ones So Far: Synecdoche, New York, Frost/Nixon, Milk, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Doubt, Gran Torino, and Slumdog Millionaire.
Just watched "Almost Famous," for the 8th time. God I love that movie.

Oh I watched Frost/Nixon too, a few weeks ago though. It was informative to me because prior to the movie, i had not known such an interview had taken place and had no clue who on earth david frost (think that's his first name) was.

The Illusionist. Lol, I guess it's an old movie, considering it's a DVD my mom borrowed from the library that has numerous scratches. But it was really good. =)

I thought the Illusionsit (which I watched last NYE, btw) was pretty original in the beginning but the latter portion was very similar to the whole R&J scheme (regarding the poison).

I watched Doubt in theaters, which had superb acting, but a pretty slow storyline.

And I watched a lot of older films:
- Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colors trilogy: Blue, White, and Red. I was very disappointed by it; only Blue stood out. While nothing much happens throughout the movie, the cinematography was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen in any movie. White was bad and Red was only ok.
- A Wong Kar-Wai box set. As Tears Go By was amazing - non-stop action and had a very hot and young Andy Lau! Days of Being Wild, the precursor to In the Mood for Love and 2046, was not that good...there were lots of useless scenes and it didn't really stand out to me. Chungking Express is *ing amazing!!! Fallen Angels is even better than *ing amazing and really stands out to me as my favorite Wong Kar-Wai film. Happy Together was just ok; didn't really make that big of an impression on me.

curious case doesn't interest me (from the previews) but i guess i might give it a shot ... is it a sad movie? i generally dislike sad movies ..

Curious Case of Benjamin Button was TERRIBLE. I left the theater feeling totally diappointed. I thought it wsa super over-hyped from what I saw. Then again, this is coming from someone who DESPISED Atonement, so maybe I'm just picky.
