Anyone who didn't get UCB financial aid email today and have good stats????

Okay so I did NOT get the financial aid document request email from UCB and I am freaking out :(

I asked two of my friends who got into Berkeley last year and the year before as transfer students and both of them said they got the email before they were officially accepted!

I also checked the stats of people who said they got the email on here and they all have 3.8++ GPA (I have a 3.93 GPA and bio major)

What does this mean? :( anyone else who's panicking...lol

Apparently the email was for proof of citizenship, so I probably won’t get it because I am not a citizen lol.

My gpa is 3.9 (4.0 in my major – English). But we must remember that Berkeley (so they claim) is not a numbers game. Still, I think I had some pretty good hooks (1st gen immigrant and college student).

Who knows? :)

I don’t think you have to worry. I turned in my FAFSA on top along with all the requirements. I have a 3.92 for Anthropology and I didn’t receive an email. I’d be really shocked if they reject me ;)

3.98 Poli Sci and I did not receive an email.

I would really not read too much into this. (Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself, because I didn’t get it yet.) :-)

I said this in another thread, but if this was the sort of thing that always happened every year before admissions, I think we would have heard about it by now. @wintergreen I know your friends say they got the letter, but I still don’t think we can draw any conclusions from this.

For what it’s worth, I applied with a 3.81.

OMG :frowning: i am so worried well I am not a citizen either! (permanent resident ) but the friend I asked that got the email last year and got accepted is also a permanent resident :frowning: and not a citizen

Idk man trying to think positive here but if this is a sign of rejection, I will be so upset :(

Also I think it’s just for people who are missing documents. I already received my financial aid from UCI, so that just means my fin-aid is complete and I don’t need to turn anything in.

@wintergreen did you file FAFSA? It’s likely that you could get the email later. I don’t think they’ve finished accepting everyone, otherwise they should just release the decisions now instead of sitting on them! :)

Well I haven’t updated my FAFSA but I was able to view my financial aid summary from UCLA and UCSD says my financial aid review is complete but didn’t get accepted yet

@zomgrad yes i did! just 2 days before the deadline it was my first time doing it… and I still have to update it with the actual tax return tho

I have a 4.0 psych + hooks. I’m pretty sure they select a certain amount of admitted students for document verification. It probably means that you got in if they e-mailed you but it means nothing if they haven’t. My CC does the same doc verification thing for a cross section of students

I don’t think anyone needs to worry if they didn’t receive an email. There are definitely people with MUCH LOWER stats that got an email this morning. i.e. me.

GPA: ~3.5
Science Major (for anonymity purposes lol).

btw I know how easy it is to ■■■■■ people on internet forums (i.e. any ucla transfer thread lol), and you may take what I say with a grain of salt, but I promise i’m not trolling lol. So if you decide that what I’m saying holds value, then don’t worry about it, any of you probably have the same chance if not a BETTER chance than I do at gaining admission.

@mayonasian girl come on you got the email i think you are in! congrats! Also Berkeley is one of those schools that’s not all about just numbers so you should be good :)’

I am just so worried because like back in march Berkeley emailed me and they wanted me to list the high schools I went to and the date of attendance… WEIRD

@anaval thanks for the input I hope it really is random :frowning: i just don’t know how both of my friends got the email before they were admitted…i am trying to look for threads in the past about this

I checked out a thread from a previous year and it looked like if you got the email, you are most likely accepted, but if you didn’t get it, don’t worry because the majority of people who were accepted got in without getting the email.

@sarah989 thanks but did people from last year got the second email as well?

Yeah it seems like everyone who got the second email was accepted and everyone who did not was rejected. HOWEVER like someone mentioned on the Berkeley thread, there was a financial aid leak that year. So I doubt that people will be getting that second email until decisions are out

I got the email. I am not too confident in getting int Cal but I was also paranoid about receiving the email, so I emailed their financial aid office and they replied saying not to worry until admission decisions officially come out on Friday. I have a feeling too that it was documents proving my citizenship because the other colleges and even my CC made me do the same thing. If this email was a sign of admission, then I am happy; however, I doubt that it is. But best of luck to all of us, hopefully Friday will turn out to be a great day!

Chemistry Major.
GPA: 3.58

@sarah989 I agree, I looked over the entire Cal 2012 Acceptance Thread (for transfers) and nobody mentioned anything about FinAid emails (at least the second one). I think that was only a mistake on 2011.
