Anyone who successfully transferred from a university in India to one in the US?

I am currently a first-year student one of the NIT’s and I am planning to transfer to a university in the US. Has anyone here previously transferred from a university in India to one in the US? Did you take help from some consultant or counselor? I cannot find much detail about it online, any help would be really appreciated.

What is your budget?

One option that you should very seriously consider: Get your bachelor’s degree in India. Get high grades and good internships. Then apply for master’s degree programs in the US.

Also be aware that US companies are increasingly moving their engineering efforts to India. There are many good reasons for this.

Lots of students do it… as long as they can afford to be full pay for 2 years or more.
However there’s almost no university that “meets need” for international freshmen that also does so for transfers.

Yes ! That’s one of the options definitely, budget isn’t an issue for me. I am not sure if my NIT allows it or not. I am in NIT Jaipur.

Do you know someone who was in an NIT and took transfer to a university abroad? I am in NIT Jaipur atm, I’m not sure they allow transfer or not. Budget isn’t an issue for me. If you can connect me to someone who took transfer from an NIT, I would be really grateful to you !!

Transfering isn’t up to the college you leave, but the college you go to.
Your current NIT cannot keep you from leaving and I hope they wouldn’t hold your transcripts “hostage”.
What matters is finding universities that’d admit you and are within budget for your parents.

What do you want in a university? Why do you want to study in the USA? How are your grades? What is your major? Would you also consider universities in Canada?

There are a very large number of universities in the US. Therefore it is hard to know which ones to suggest without more information.
