It is very nice here to discuss many things with you guys . As a learner , I come here to improve my English . So I will share something I know of China with you ,if you don't mind . Haha

I'd like to know about China! I've been thinking about studying in Beijing, but I've never studied Chinese before. Would I learn anything if I went there without much practice in Chinese and only stayed for a few months? Whats the culture like? How does it differ from region to region?

Good luck improving your English :)

Hi, Sara. I think it is better if you learn the basic Chinese 1 course to build a foundation, and then go to Beijing. Chinese ppl are very friendly, they will love to talk to you. Beijing's weather is not so great tho. lol

i want to know about China. I am only a high school senior, but I am chinese....know any programs.!

also agree with mirageseeker. you shouldn't go into a foreign country with minimal foreign language ability. it's best if you take a year of chinese first at your college, and then go study abroad. having a basic knowledge will enable you to LIVE there much better and delve deeper into the culture than if u relied on english and english-speaking places all the time. oh and you might want to 'standardize' your chinese elsewhere before you start adding 'r' to everything, no offense to any beijingrs here ;)

well..the reason i want to go to china is because i am chinese....im pretty fluent in it...i just can't read or write...but can speak and hear....

It's really different from region to region In China, especially the minority Autonomous Region. There're 56 nations in China. Each of them has a distinct custom and a unique culture vapor. Some Universities supply a pre-course,you can select some basic Chinese courses.
You could grasp some information through internet, and find the destination you 're most resorted in.

I'm actually a Chinese Mongolian.
In addition, never apply for a "COLLEGE".It's "University" instead.
You'll be frustrated and disappointed in a Chinese "college",and it's uneasy to transfer.
Wish you success.Email me if you still have questions.
