Hi, I'm currently a freshman in highschool and my school doesn't have a Mu Alpha Theta chapter or a Math Club or anything of the sort and I'm considering starting one. The thing is I really have no idea where to start. I've mentioned the idea to a couple friends who just laughed at me for even thinking it'd be possible/anyone would join, so does anyone with experience starting a chapter at their school have any advice at all?

Also, I'm pretty sure my school meets the requirements and whatnot

I’m in the same boat. I’ve done a lot of research but keep drawing blanks. I got a couple smart and interested friends to go talk to our highest level math teacher about sponsoring, but past that I don’t know what to do.

My son started a chapter. It is lot of work but you can do it. There are two different applications. You must apply to both your state and national chapters. All the instructions are on their websites. You must also recruit and vet students. My recommendation is to prepare all material over the summer for early next year. Furthermore you will need a school sponsor.
