Hi I’m just wondering if there is anyone here who got into top schools (like top 20) with a good act composite score (32 or above) but a low writing score (like 21,22) on the new writing scale? thank you so much for replying
Its not me personally, but I know someone that received a 35C, but only a 17 writing on the new scale.
I got a 34 composite, 24 writing, waiting for my Duke decision on Thursday. I consider Duke a semi-reach, because the ED acceptance rate is 25%. Duke RD at 9% acceptance is most probably out of my reach. I have a 3.98 GPA otherwise so solid overall. I asked a very similar question because I was also worried about the disparity and the consensus was that colleges don’t really pay too much attention to essay scores on standardized tests in general, and that the new ACT writing scale is very different from the old so they’re not going to read much into it. I tested in September, which was the first time the new scoring was used.
got a 32 composite and a 22 on writing so i didnt submit my ACT ( got a 2180 SAT)
