I haven't really thought about it, but princeton is definitely gonna kick my butt. I feel like it's gonna be insanely tough and i won't have time for socializing.

amnesia, don't worry. You will be fine. Sharpen your time management skills.

Same page:
"Anyone else feeling unworthy?"

Just about all of us feel this way.

I'm kind of scared about it being tough too. Anyone doing premed or engineering is going to be working like crazy.

Hey guys, just a heads up from someone who just finished his freshman year. I came to Princeton thinking it was going to be hard and it was much harder than I thought it would be. HOWEVER...I did have some bad advising and I was signed up for 5 HARD classes first semester.

Basically, everyone repeats the math classes they took in senior year of highschool...so if you took calc AB, you might want to take MAT 103, especially if you don't feel you grasped it all. If you took calc BC, you might want to take MAT 104. But then again, many people do just fine moving right along taking new classes.

Also, take 4 classes first semester (AB or BSE) and get your writing seminar out of the way. Makes things much simpler...a mistake I wish I could change.

Also, don't be afraid to take an art history course or a religion course. The humanities here are AMAZING! Take advatage of them - believe me...you'll appreciate them especially when you're cramming for your physics final.

Just don't forget to have fun though. Studying all the time will make you go crazy. Join some clubs, go to the street. It is my opinion that the friendships (....or rather networking) here will take you further than a GPA can.

Good luck guys and see you in the fall!

How about pre-med AND engineering? Is anyone else as crazy as me? :(

I actually began as a premed engineer (chemE) and there are a few. Its very difficult, and when you become a junior and senior you end up spending about 40-80 hours a week in the lab (so i've heard) since you 'want' to do better than the other students. Its rough. Its tough. But if you work hard and have the ability go for it.

I dropped engineering because it wasn't what I wanted to do. The subject matter ended up being completely different than what I thought it would be....anddddd I didn't really feel like giving away my social life to do premed and engineering. ;)

Yes... I also favored ChemE + premed before I applied, and now as I was filling out the AB form I realize that I don't want to do either ChemE or premed. Chem AB + research for me, new goal is in academia. I think I'll enjoy myself much more this way :D

skysongx, I'm going to be pre-med and a compsci/engineering major. I'm not sure about med school, but I really like biology and chemistry and since the medical field is becoming very computer oriented, a computer science degree will help a lot.

I don't understand why pre-med and engineering would be insane?

I don't think Computer Science will be that bad. Instead of lab, I'll show medical school I've done other stuff than research but who knows... Things could change. I'm definitely set on Computer Science, but not sure about pre-med.

So, I'm doing the integrated science course.

If you have a few APs, you'll be done most of your pre-med courses by the end of sophomore year, if you don't mind one or two science courses with lab per semester. (It could go something like EEB211, MOL214, PHY103-4, CHM301-2, some maths ... am I forgetting something?)
