Is it possible for an international student to receive full aid from Cornell?
BUMP! I’m wondering this as well!
Yes, it is possible.
Yeah definitely.
Oh My! I would hope not!!!
@lkgrg17 I’m curious. Why would you hope not?
They’re private (mostly), they can do what they want with the money. If they see an international student whom they want so badly they’re willing to give full aid, let them. That student must be a very valuable addition to the Cornell community so it would be a benefit to all.
But I have no idea whether that happens or not; just responding to #4.
@Encord I do get discouraged when I see Hardworking Americans getting turned down for acceptance to American colleges because of foreign influence. Put on top of that $$ from these colleges that could be used for American citizens going to people from other countries just astounds me.
@lkgrg17 while I do understand you, I think you should bear in mind that a school like Cornell really is mostly private. The funds given out as aid to international students does not come from the funds NY gives the school- it comes from donations by alumni and other sources. Please note that international alumni do also make contributions (money wise) to the school. So to be fair, I really cannot see how if international students too are contributing to the school, it is should be an issue if a certain portion of aid awards are given out to them.
@Encord I see your point. Looking at it from that perspective than you are completely right.
