I'm wondering if anyone's score went down after the first time. I got a 33, but I haven't been able to get that on practice tests, so I'm doubting if I should take it again.

You don’t need to retake a 33… Anything above a 32 is 99th percentile. However, ACT sends individual tests (you choose which one to send), so if you retake it and get lower, don’t worry. Send your higher score, the colleges won’t see the lower one.

Well, I’m trying to get into Cornell, and a 34 would really make up for my lack of ECs. My question is though, I’ve already put Cornell as one of the free spots, so this is why I’m asking.

1 point isn’t going to make up for a lack of ECs…

it would still help alot since there are so many people in the middle 50% with the top being 33, but the numbers are significantly less in the 34-36 range.

Trust him, one point difference isn’t going to make up for lack of EC’s. You should channel your energy into something effective like volunteering or something to strengthen your EC’s.

…

can we please stick on topic? Ignore my comment about ECs, I got like 300+ hours of volunteering…
