what the f

i just checked the tag box on the application last year, is this new?

Same here but I guess it means I am in and you just need to maintain all your stuff to get in.

This is the email received:

“The decision for your fall 2011 UC Santa Barbara TAG application has been posted on the TAG web site. Please log in at: https://uctag.universityofcalifornia.edu and click on the campus status link to access your decision.”

received the same letter as everyone else has posted, the email says it a decision so …

logicwarrior- i think theyre trying to implement a different TAG process that will reallyy take hold for ppl applying for fall 2011. i thinkkk its in the transitory phase right now, which sucks because no one knows what the f is going on.

ITS GETTIN LATE BUT I DONTT MIND…cept i do.

@clickann… That is exactly what I was thinking… In the e mail it specifically states that it is a “decision”, but on the TAG website, the message is pretty vague… It would be so much better if they said “congratulations!” lol

so i just got my TAG approved for UCSB. However, i have to drop two classes this semester due to personal reasons. My 60 UC units are already completed and these classes have no effect on my prereqs nor IGETC. Will my TAG be revoked?

when you say your tag was approved…did it flat out say “congratulations”? or the same “please apply” crap like the rest of us??
and no ur tag most likely wont be revoked under those conditions…

This is basically what it said: “Next, make sure you complete any remaining requirements for the UCSB Transfer Admission Guarantee. Assuming you meet all conditions, your admission to the University is guaranteed. If for any reason, you are unable to meet the conditions; an offer of admission will depend on your completion of transfer admission requirements and competitiveness in the applicant pool. Students who do not meet all TAG criteria may still be competitive for admission to UCSB.”

but yea the same please apply message, along with that i just posted

I am taking the “Assuming you meet all conditions, your admission to the University is guaranteed.” line as an acceptance to UCSB. They are just looking at it as a contract which is what TAG really is. They are just saying they will hold up their end of the bargain if you hold up yours.

It’s still frustrating though, esp. since UCR’s started with “Congratulations!”

Still waiting to hear from UCSC and UCSD :/

so anybody who is applying for the College of Letters and Science TAG for UCSB:since I don’t have a 3.20 GPA by Fall 2010(statistically speaking, there is no chance for me to get 3.20 by this Fall),am I ineligible for general admission at SB?I mean I got the e-mail for the TAG for SB but I find it offensive that they must have already seen my work and should of just deny me by now.but then again they are just discouraging from students from applying.dam it,i dont want to raise my hopes… :[

Hmmmm if that’s the case… I hope they will rethink and send out saying if you are in or not…

@jkroller:they should.i already told them of my circumstance but they simply reply to apply anyways.this is not a good sign from SB.

Kalon12, thanks for info, I was starting to get worried they would do the same thing as UCSD, UCI, and UCSB by releasing it in march.
Good thing I have a midterm and black ops is out this week. That should keep me busy until the end of this week :D

Exactly guys! I really don’t get why they can’t say congratulations! or sorry blah blah blah…
Oh well I guess we do have to finish all of the remaining requirements… and that does not mean that we have to finish all prereqs right? they mean requirement for the tag which is to maintain your gpa with 60 or more units and you’re good to go?

^i think its igetc+major pre reqs (if you can)+90 units+atleast 3.0 gpa(but some may vary)=youre good to go.
lol!

Still nothing from UCD/UCSC

i think UCSB is just accepting the tag applicants and waiting until march/may because they want to find out who is really interested in UCSB… just sayin. theres a possibility that could happen

I don’t understand what you mean by that?

It’s widely known that in deciding their admissions, the UCs do not place emphasis on applicants’ demonstrated interest in the school, in the way that some private universities are known for doing so. As many can attest, UCs could care less whether an applicant wants to attend their school. Why? Because we’re all just numbers to them, nothing more. [Case in point: Making a phone call to UCs’ admissions office often results in an excessive wait, after which the desk clerk/representative (usually clerk) is always so perfunctory, putting in the least amount of effort possible for you the applicant. It’s as if they haven’t smiled in several days.]

Yeah I dont see why they would just randomly send out 2 different messages to students. There had to be some kind of selection process behind it. I realize it is probably just wishful thinking but Im sticking to that logic. UCSB just hinted Im in!!! lol
