hey, i read thru this thread and i noticed that apparently the top 5% of the applicant pool receive merit scholarships.

how do they determine who’s in the top 5%? do they do it by SAT or GPA ranking? (i don’t see how they can do it by GPA tho b/c some schools are easier to get A’s than others).

Okay, well this is an application question. If I submit an extremely impressive award I got AFTER the ED deadline, do you think that will show extra interest/determination or just be annoying and unnecessary?

my roommate says that the department is really into cultural anthropology. she’s an anthropology major, studio art minor. the department is small, but she feels like she really gets to know the professors. if you’re into archeology, she says that you might not want to go to NYU, because they only have one or two classes like that.

yes, SCPS applicants can get lsp’d - i believe every school can, except stern and nursing. i’ve definitely met lsp students headed toward cas, steinhardt, gallatin, tisch, and scps. not sure if the social work school does lsp or not.

Meaning, do they look them over in the order they get them or do they wait until after the deadline, sort them alphabetically, and then review each applicant?

I’m asking because I don’t want to send in my RD app right before the deadline if I can help it.

Is there anything you can tell me about how strong the History department? Also, is tehre any statistic that shows how many people go to nyu law grad school from nyu undergrad?
