The University hotel (a Holiday Inn) is practically on campus. That's where I'm lodging when the university flies me up next month.

Also is there anything to do after the admitted students tour? I believe it lasts two or three hours, but what can i do after that for the remainder of the day or two. whats the surrounding neighbourhood like? any reccommendations as to restaurants or places to check out withing a short walking distance? Ill be going to visit in late March.

i really enjoyed the short north district and farmer's market.

outside of ohio, because i'm a girl, i enjoyed shopping at easton and polaris malls...hey, what i can say, i gotta shop!

i heard columbus has a beautiful botannical garden too.

Oh, I love the North Market. http://www.northmarket.com/

You can walk up and down High Street (down to the Short North too) There are lots of cool shops and art galleries.

In the German Village, which is off South High Street, there is the most amazing, historic 32 room bookstore called the Book Loft! It is a fantastic, wonderful, magical place. Also in the German Village are the original Max and Erma's restaurant and Schmidts', a famous sausage restaurant (and famous for their cream puff desserts!)

Sooo, I'm just a freshman, and I'm not from the area, so I don't know my way all around yet, but these are some of the places I've explored.

You could also go to COSI, a science museum, or the home of American humorist James Thurber, which is now a museum. It's open every day from 1-4 PM.

ambi and jmryan thnx for the input... :D it helped a ton!
